My Visit to Ehime General Hospital, Imo State On Thursday, 26th March, I visited a General Hospital in Ehime Mbano, Imo state where I was warmly received by Most Rev. David Onuoha, Archbishop of the Ecclesiastical Province of Owerri and Bishop of Okigwe South Diocese, alongside other clergy and members of the hospital management. His tireless commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare and professional training is truly commendable. Now that the hospital has been officially handed over to the Diocese, I am confident the Church will manage it efficiently for the benefit of the community. To support this transition, I donated ₦10 million toward the ongoing renovation of the complex and the Diocese’s visionary plans to establish a nursing school on-site. Such initiatives are vital to building a system that truly serves our people, and I call on the Government, and wealthy Nigerians to support these efforts, as the Church is currently bridging a significant gap by delivering essential services that are fundamentally the responsibility of the Government. I remain firm in my conviction that investment in health and education is the most critical path to national development, as a healthy and educated population is the bedrock of a productive and prosperous nation. Troubling Developments in Our Polity that Must Be Nipped in the Bud. I have just been made aware early this morning that Revered religious leader, Sheikh Ahmad Tijjani Umar has been arrested by authorities shortly after hosting me in Kaduna on Sunday. This development underscores the deeply troubling state of our nation and our democracy, where freedom of speech and movement is increasingly threatened, and where citizens and perceived political opponents face harassment and unnecessary persecution. This cannot be allowed to continue. This country must defend freedom and free speech, which are the hallmarks of every democratic society. Suppression and intimidation of dissent can never stand in a democratic society, and this Nigerian government must understand this fact. I respectfully call on all those bent on undermining our already fragile democracy to please stop and apply the rule of law and tenets of democracy in dealing with citizens. -PO

The recent news from Maiduguri, Borno State, is profoundly upsetting. I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathise with the injured and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno during this challenging time. I want to make it categorically clear that these acts of terror are the final desperate and frantic attempts by criminals and terrorist elements trying to instil and spread fear, as they are under constant pressure from our brave armed forces and security agencies operating in various theatres. We will continue to intensify our efforts against all criminal elements, wherever they may be. I must commend the courage and fighting spirit of our patriotic troops who successfully repelled the coordinated attacks by these terrorists on military positions in the state. The Monday attacks were desperate acts of the evil-minded terrorist groups. Our gallant military and civilian task forces will curtail and put them down. Just last weekend, during a security meeting with leaders of security and intelligence agencies, I approved additional equipment and operational support to enhance their capabilities. This effort is already in progress. Additionally, I have directed security chiefs to move to Maiduguri to take charge of the situation. I have also directed the emergency agencies to provide proper care for the injured. There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. However, she revealed that disbursement protocols require multiple sign-offs, and that certain "pre-disbursement conditions" had not been met by some ministries. 13. She argued that while the funds exist, they cannot be released until Project documentation is complete 14. But committee members, armed with the Health Minister's earlier testimony that he received only ₦38 million of his ₦286 billion allocation, demanded to know: if protocols were the issue, why were some ministries given the runaround while others weren't? 15. Hon. Ikwechegh rose again and asked: “Mr. Chairman, can the minister tell this committee which specific ministry met all conditions and still did not receive funding? If none existed, why was ₦1.15 trillion approved when the government knew conditions weren't met?" 16. The minister could not provide a single example. Hon. Ikwechegh then said: · If capital funds were approved, where are they? · If they were misappropriated, who is responsible? · If this is a crime, who will be held accountable? 17. Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh reminded the committee, if funds were approved but never reached their destination, that is not poor administration. That is a crime. 18. On February 27th 2026, Hon. Ikwechegh was invited to Aso Rock by President Tinubu for a close door meeting. 19. After the meeting with the president, Hon. Ikwechegh announced his resignation from his party APGA, announcing his intention to join the APC. 20. This is a classic move by Tinubu who always buys off his critics and sadly, Hon.
