How to Be an Online Christian Apologist 10 Guidelines 1. Above all else, remember this: You are right. They are wrong. You are coming from a superior position. You have God on your side. They don’t. 2. Never, never think about the possibility that you might sound arrogant and condescending when you keep asserting that God has led you to the real truth. 3. Accept uncritically and parrot the answers well-known Christian apologists give about challenges to belief. Never check these things out for yourself. 4. Do not listen to ex-Christians when they tell you why they left and how life feels after leaving faith. Turn off all curiosity about an ex-believer’s life experiences. Listen only to what the Bible tells you about why people leave and how it feels to them when they leave. This enables you to know more about how their lives feel than they do. 5. Always assume that individuals who never believed will be immediately convinced when you quote Bible verses as proof of your beliefs. 6. Ignore the feedback of ex-believers when you are quoting Bible verses to convince them, and they tell you you’re quoting verses they memorized or quoted when they were believers. 7. When someone surprises you by responding with a Bible passage that disagrees with your position, tell them they are not interpreting the passage correctly. 8. If you find out that an ex-believer has studied the Bible more than you, confidently assert they were never a true believer and consequently all their study was in vain. 9. If all your arguments fail, attack the character of the person who disagrees with you! Tell this individual that there’s no way his/her life can have meaning, and there’s no way s/he can live any kind of moral life. Top if off with the warning: “You’ll be sorry when you burn in hell!” And be sure to convey that you see that destiny as a just reward. 10. Remember that you’re not just an apologist for Christianity, you’re also an apologist for your brand of Christianity. Confront Christians whose theology is different from yours with the same intensity that characterizes your confrontations with atheists. Feel free to suggest additional guidelines. Note: For the more literal minded, this is a tongue-in-cheek list, compiled after observing the actual behavior of online Christian apologists over a period of five years. #exChristian #exChristianApologist

Great Ironies of the Christian Faith Despite all the Bible talk about self-sacrifice and putting others first, the ultimate end-goal for believers is to end up in an eternal place of absolute, self-satisfying comfort. In fact, some believers may be fortunate enough to live in their own luxurious mansion in heaven. Feel free to share any similar ironies of faith. #exchristian

@Jake0705 Loving God and loving people created in his image sounds like works to me. I thought believers were saved by accepting the remdemptive death of Jesus on the cross. Check out 1 Corinthians 3:10-17 on the idea of different levels of rewards in heaven.

@Goodbye_Jesus Also, for some believers getting mansions please send me the verse. We do not get to heaven by works—we do it because we love God and we love people created in His image

The King James Version was published in 1611 and was still in use when I read the Bible from cover to cover at the age of 10. And, it is the version used for the new Trump Bible. So, I don't think we can act like it's out of use can we? And it's odd that God watched silently while this version of his word, filled with mistranslations, developed an ever-expanding audience over more than three centuries. The New International Version translates "rooms" instead of "mansions." But what in the New Testament would make any believer expect that their "room" in heaven is going to be a cramped, cold, and sparsely furnished abode? Come on! The streets are gold! 1 Corinthians 3 speaks of levels of salvation from being saved by the skin of your teeth to having "gold, sliver, and costly stones" level work that survives the refining fire on "the day." I say the point of my tweet above stands firm.

You believe that the creator of the Universe listens to you every day when you pray and is preparing a very nice forever place for you in heaven, and you say I'm arrogant? #exchristian

@Goodbye_Jesus Could such gullibility be based in the corrosive effect of wish fulfillment & magical non-critical feelings in families & their children at their earliest ages from generation to generation as fostered by religion?

Large numbers of Catholics and Evangelicals enthusiastically support Donald Trump. Their misguided devotion to Trump — the world’s most accomplished liar — indicates these Christians are highly susceptible to being conned. What could have made such a large group of people disengage critical thinking skills in a way that allows them to believe so many things that are pure fiction? #exchristian #exvangelical
