@MarkMaddenX My initial thought was Mason would be the odd man out, but McCarthy handpicked Allar so if anyone’s going to leave or as someone told me, be put on the practice squad, it could be Howard.

@Blitz_Burgh I am actually very happy. Probably his final year, but this will be a great learning opportunity for the young quarterbacks whoever’s on the roster to not be forced to play and fail like so many other young quarterbacks do.

Ed Reed to Troy Polamalu about his one handed interception against the Chargers: “That’s one of my favorite plays that you had outside of a bunch of other ones. I know for a fact you had a genius of a defensive coordinator who really understood you as a player.” #steelers

@NFL_DovKleiman I’m not sure the Steelers actually hate Lamar Jackson because the Steelers own Lamar Jackson.

@ZPSteelers2 I agree, this is a very upgraded offense and a much improved offensive philosophy, so I’m excited to see what they can do. Christ. Maybe they’ll actually win a playoff game.

I would rather watch Aaron Rodgers play with Mike McCarthy calling the plays over Arthur Smith. That’s something I’m interested to see

@Blitz_Burgh Happy. These young quarterbacks are gonna get a great opportunity to learn behind one of the all-time greats. However, after this year, it’s time to move forward with the Yutes.

It’s official. Aaron Rodgers is coming back to Pittsburgh on a one year deal. This is the BEST POSSIBLE THING for BOTH Will Howard and Drew Allar. HERE. WE. GO.

I still believe in Roman Wilson. I do, man. I really do. He’s a very underrated route runner (imo) and routinely separated himself nicely with the reps he was given last season. I’m VERY fascinated to see how Mike McCarthy’s west coast offense involves him. I think he’s going to be involved more than people think.

@MPFrazer This is exactly why they grabbed him when they did. He has all the physical tools now he just needs to unlearn what he learned and allow himself to be coached by a legit quarterback guru.

@MarkMaddenX One of the most consistent kickers in NFL history, kicking in arguably the toughest venue / worst surface in the NFL. he’s worth every dime. #Herewego

@JermaineCurtis As a hitter, the game is designed for the hitter to fail. It’s 9 on defense vs 1 batter. Don’t let success go to your head; don’t let failure go to your heart.

Parents… One bad tournament does not define your son. I played in the MLB. I still went 0-for-42 once. Confidence is fragile in this game. Your words after games matter more than you think.

@Wendi_Irlbeck Kids need balance, no matter how old or young they are. Without it, resentment for the game will creep in, not burnout.

Youth sports is on life support. If you think it’s fine, you’re not paying attention. Kids age 10-12 are playing way too many tournaments and travel ball. Parents treat it like the World Series. They need less travel, more rest, fueling, and actual development. They’re 12 YO. The data backs it up: ❌70% of kids drop out of organized sports by age 13. ❌Professionalization (year-round single-sport focus, heavy travel/tournaments) drives overuse injuries, overtraining, and burnout. ❌Nearly 1 in 10 youth athletes experience burnout; up to 35% deal with overtraining. ❌Early specialization before 12-13 raises injury and burnout risks significantly. Multi-sport kids who rest and play for fun stick around longer and develop better. Let them be kids. Prioritize recovery, fun, and long-term health over trophies. The best athletes often sample multiple sports early and specialize later. Who else sees this?

@BradleyGloves Often time coaches will cherry pick tournaments that they know they can dominate to get the trophy to validate themselves being good coaches versus the continuous improvement, challenge and development of their players. Seen this on the Softball side of it for years.

When a travel ball parent brags about their kid's team's amazing record, and how they're crushing the opposition, my response is always that they need to start playing teams that can beat them, even if that means playing up an age group.

A reminder for tournament weekend: The athlete who goes 0-for-4 with hard contact is a better player than the athlete who goes 2-for-4 with two infield singles. College coaches know this. Travel coaches know this. The only people who don't know this are the parents in the stands. Watch the swings. Not the box score.
