@ClarkeIanm @MickAntoniw1 @Lab4IndyWales I disagree. If it does that, we really will be finished. And precisely what sections of the Labour Party rule book contributed to Welsh Labour treating its supporters in working class communities with complete and utter disdain - which is the real reason we lost.

Spot on. Only one of the factors but crucial. Full devolution of the rule book is a first step to rebuilding the Welsh Party
Margaret Keenan@MargaretKeenan

Serious lessons need to be learned by UK Labour allowing Welsh Labour to operate in accordance with what is needed in Wales @PeterHain tells ‘Sunday Supplement’. Eluned Morgan was ‘ constantly hemmed in’ by the way Number 10 and the UK party operated bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00…

Suerly, Mansion House in Cardiff should be the official residence of the First Minister of Wales🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 It’s owned by @cardiffcouncil and was used by the Mayor of Cardiff. This would help to maintain this historic building, and would be the equivalent to Scotland’s Bute House.

@mrrobosborne Irranca Davies. Grey man on the gravy train. Mediocre at best. Surely the Llywydd needs to be bilingual?

Names suggested in the last few weeks for who might be the new Llywydd Huw Irranca Davies - Labour, deputy FM. Paul Davies - Cons really pushing it’s their turn. Want former Senedd leader in the seat. Jane Dodds - the only Lib Dem.

@Jeffrey62093861 @mrrobosborne Agreed. I would have thought that with his long experience, the party would want Huw Irranca to take on one of the bigger shadow spokesperson roles and to be a key negotiator at budget time. After all, Plaid will not be able to pass a budget without Labour support.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇬🇧 Before 1830, nobody had a lawn. The rich had their grass cut by scythemen. Ordinary people had no garden worth speaking of. Edwin Budding was an engineer in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Working in a textile mill, he noticed a machine using a cutting cylinder to trim the surface of cloth. He looked at it. And thought about grass. He built a machine with a cutting cylinder mounted on a wheeled frame. Then pushed it across his garden at midnight. At midnight. So the neighbours wouldn't see. It worked. He patented it in August 1830. Within twenty years the Victorian suburb was born. The striped lawn. The neat garden. The Sunday morning ritual. Every suburban garden in America. Every cricket ground. Every football pitch. Every golf course on earth. Traces back to one man. In Stroud. With a cloth machine. At midnight. Right now, somewhere in the world, someone is cutting their grass. And they have no idea who Edwin Budding was. Help us share more of our history: proudofus.co.uk/support Be Part Of Us. Be Proud Of Us. 🇬🇧

We know the cost of living still bites. Our proposed Council Tax rise of 3.9% is one of the lowest increases in Wales And it means Cardiff's Council Tax rate will be the lowest in Wales, for the second year in a row With no cuts to frontline services, we're protecting...

A leading financial think tank has ridiculed the Welsh Conservatives’ idea of scrapping the increase in the number of Senedd Members, saying it would save no more than a ‘rounding error’ in the devolved budget ✍️@ShiptonMartin wp.me/p8Mk4U-1gn3

@JennyRathbone We shouldn’t rely on electoral systems to defeat our opponents. We need to do so on the strength of our policies and our arguments and, if we can’t do that, then we deserve to lose.

Agree - ‘’I am far from certain that Rayner would defeat either Starmer or Streeting.’’ In fact I’d go further it will be idiotic to have a leadership contest. open.substack.com/pub/kellnerp/p…

Amazing that some colleagues don't seem to have noticed what did or didn't happen today. There was an attempted leadership coup. It failed. Continuing to call for the PM to go when he has just been cheered to the rafters by the PLP (at least so I hear, I'm on a train back from Gorton so wasn't there), and when it came to the crunch and no one was actually up for standing against him, is just destructive to Labour's chances in the byelection and in May. As Clem told Laski: "a period of silence on your part would be welcome".
Kit Bradshaw@kitbradshaw

NEW: Labour MP Peter Lamb calls on Sir Keir Starmer to do the “responsible thing” and set out a “timetable for departure in May”. The Crawley MP tells me this would allow the party to “get on with electing a new leader”. @itvmeridian

@RhonddaBryant Last week we wanted to choose who represented them in debates. Now we criticise them when they don’t turn up. If they can’t choose their spokesperson, I don’t blame them for being a no show. Additionally, they’ve probably worked out that nobody watches or listens to these events.
