The world ended on July 4th, 2012 when we discovered the Higgs Boson, the “God Particle” during a run of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN.
Technology moved drastically forward, seemingly without us, while humans rely on it instead of control it.
Creativity and ingenuity have ceased. There is no decade to decade changes in culture ie music, fashion, movies. You could distinctly tell the 1900s to the 2000s in pictures, film and the popular music as tidy 10 year blocks that were completely different from the next 10. It’s the example of The Office tv show, the American version. It ran for what 17 years? And you cannot distinguish around what year it is aside from the actors’ ages.
Somewhere around July 2012 is where we culturally just.. stopped advancing. We moved towards automation, simulation, music that no one can latch onto or recognize, no songs of the summer.. reboots and sequels of old movies(with the original cast) out of a desperate need for nostalgia. All the while feeling like time is accelerating
We broke something that day. We all feel it unraveling and know something huge is around the corner.
