@UK_Compounder There is a clear difference now between freehold and leasehold in London. You own the house and land - you’re still getting paid. Prices of the same houses in my area of SW London are up from 925k to £1m since I moved here 2.5yrs ago.

My parents are selling their rural property in Exmoor and have currently had two full asking price offers. (+35% on cost in 6 years) This is in stark contrast to the London housing market posts we see daily on X at the moment, where some city property is selling for 30 - 50% less than it was bought for some 10 years ago! Wrong calculation. If renting you invest the differential between cost of homeownership versus renting monthly. The differential would be around $2k based on the above case presented That would be $24k a year invested, compounded for 30 years since 1996. Your stock portfolio would be worth $4m today.
