How's everyone doing today? 📉
New investors, remember to hold your nerve, don't panic, and stick to the plan...
Just zoom out on the graph and see how insignificant any dips or corrections are over a 20yr period. That's what here here for 💪🏻
It's easy to become disheartened, but this dip is nothing like a correction or worse. Tougher times will come to test you, so, remember why you're here and remind yourself of the timeline.
Also, top tip... you only make a loss if you sell! Otherwise, it's just unrealised and doing its thing 🫡

Yep, I'm pretty well prepped with what's in my control.
The LTV is under 50% (achieved a few months ago as planned), so we have access to the cheaper rates.
I've also timed a £450 car payment to end one month before the mortgage renewal, so we have that money to lose immediately on the mortgage with no cashflow impact.
You're talking to an obsessive planner and budgeter here 😅
Keep spreading the good word mate.

Either way, if you had a long fix from c.2021 it’s going to be a notable increase. In these types of situations, it’s all about finding the small wins.
Even something like paying a little extra off or having it revalued to get into the next LTV bracket can make a difference, although I also get that not everyone can do that.
Good luck! Looking forward to hearing how you get on.

Not a surprise, but I was hoping for the rate to continue its downward trend as I head towards my mortgage renewal in November this year!

🚨 BREAKING: The Bank of England has held interest rates at 3.75%
English

@Nathan8hpp Yeah looking at it. That's the 3.89% rate I can currently secure. I was hoping that would come down further, but that may have changed now.
English

@UK_Compounder Have you thought about product transferring to the same provider? This often lets you skip the remortgage process and may help you jump ahead if you think rates are likely to go up by then
English

@UK_Compounder Mostly stocks on 212 of which nearly half is $NVDA but gradually moving to ETFs as I approach retirement , all my s&s isa are in OEIC
English

@Shan_Specter Ah ok. Not an area I know a great deal about.
What does thw recovery look like?
English

@antibearthesis I was watching it at work today, fully expecting it to drop further. How did you end up?
English

@UK_Compounder Just starting out , first time seeing the dip but we stay strong 🤞

@UK_Compounder @Budgetdog_ Nice original thought thanks for the wisdumb
Yes & value is perceived based on market conditions.
Think of people that did a lot of improvements, renovations, value addition back in 2007 & then were forced to sell years later for a loss......thats winning??
You are clown 🤡

"Appreciation in economics is the increase in the value of an asset (like stocks, real estate, or art) or a currency over time, often driven by high demand, economic growth, or inflation. It represents a rise in market value rather than a physical change in the asset".
So I'll say again. I have added value to the assets and realised the profits by selling them... rather than having relied on appreciation of the asset over time.
😁 Chill dude. This is the internet, you don't need to agree with everything. It's all cool 😅

@UK_Compounder @Budgetdog_ Whats it called when the price of a home goes up in reference to your statement below?
"I've made the majority of my net worth buying, living in, self-renovating, and selling property"
Whats it called when you buy a home at one price & then sell it at a higher price?
Holy fuck
English

@SatireMedi63111 @UK_Compounder @Budgetdog_ A paid-off home before retirement changes the financial picture completely.
English

@UK_Compounder @Budgetdog_ A home is only an asset if it is 100% paid off or being rented out above mortgage for positive cash flow
Buying a home to personally live in & financed with a mortgage is not an asset for you it is for your bank sweetie
