Madagascar is among the countries most vulnerable to climate change yet the country’s contribution to global emission is negligible. In the south, the Antandroy people find themselves paying a heavy price for the climate crisis.

An Israeli settler just shot Odeh Hadalin in the lungs, a remarkable activist who helped us film No Other Land in Masafer Yatta. Residents identified Yinon Levi, sanctioned by the EU and US, as the shooter. This is him in the video firing like crazy.

Many thanks to @btselem for their courageous and important report, the first from an Israeli organisation and media concluding Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. They are joining @amnesty and thousands of organisations, including Palestinian organisations, scholars and jurists in reaching this "unequivocal conclusion" and in demanding an end to the genocide. In addition to Gaza, @btselem report also focuses on the crimes committed in the occupied West Bank, including forcible transfer, and warn us all that Israel is “replicating in the West Bank - albeit on a smaller scale - some of the patterns it is implementing in Gaza." Given Israel' s ongoing crack down on the work of Palestinian and Israeli human rights organizations, @btselem needs the support from all around the world who believes in justice and accountability, in independent media, in courageous reporting. We must end the genocide in Gaza. It should have ended months ago.

Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. It sounds inconceivable. But it’s the truth. Israel is taking deliberate, coordinated action to destroy the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. Explicit statements by Israeli officials, combined with a consistent policy of destructive attacks and other practices of annihilation, prove beyond a doubt that Israel’s target is the entire population of Gaza. Entire cities razed to the ground; medical, educational, religious and cultural infrastructure systematically destroyed; 2 million Palestinians forcibly displaced with the aim of expelling them from Gaza; and, of course, mass starvation and killing - all this amounts to an explicit attempt to destroy the population of Gaza and impose living conditions so catastrophic that Palestinian society cannot continue to exist there. That is the exact definition of genocide. The report we are releasing today is a warning: The ideology driving the Israeli regime is not confined to Gaza. The same regime, the same army, the same leaders and the same commanders are implementing extremely violent practices against Palestinians in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and within Israel. We are already witnessing the spillover of practices Israel is using in Gaza to other areas - on a different scale, but guided by the same logic. In the West Bank, this is taking the form of airstrikes, demolition of refugee camps, mass evictions, and the deliberate destruction of Palestinian economy and society. No Palestinian who lives under the genocidal Israeli regime is safe. There is no justification for genocide – not “self-defense”, not “security”, and not the heinous acts committed by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which triggered profound existential fear among Israelis. The international community has not only failed in its duty to stop the atrocities, but the leaders of the Western world, particularly the United States and Europe, also share responsibility by providing support that enables Israel’s acts of destruction. It is the duty of the international community to stop the genocide Israel is carrying out in Gaza. On social media, we are seeing footage of people buried under bombed-out buildings, displaced persons’ camps on fire, children starving, people desperate for water, and hospitals left unable to treat the injured and the sick. As a human rights organization it is our duty and responsibility to say the truth: Genocide is happening, right here and right now. This is our genocide, and we need to stop it. The regime wants to hang her to make an example. The death sentence of #Pakhshan_Azizi has been confirmed for the third time. She is one of many brave women the Islamic Republic is trying to punish for the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising. And yet… the free world still does business with this government. The world still treats this regime as legitimate. Meanwhile, women like Pakhshan, on death row, inside prison, declare the regime illegitimate without fear. Be her voice.

We are not powerless. Starvation in Gaza is widespread. Israel has engineered it. Israel has designed its evil unfolding. But let's make no mistake. We have allowed it. We have enabled it. We have emboldened it. Our self-imposed paralysis is a scam. Nothing more than a scam, a pretence. And we gorge ourselves with our so-called powerlessness while Palestinians starve Our Profits accumulate; geostrategic calculations grow bigger, while Palestinians starve. Words are spoken; words are cheap. And Palestinians starve. And we watch. And we watch our colleagues starving; our friends wasting away. And we watch children going hungry a few kilometres away from tons of food, rotting away, wasted. The stench of what we have made of our world is unbearable.
UNICEF@UNICEF

🔴 Hunger is widespread in Gaza and people are dying. 🔴 Deadly malnutrition among children is reaching catastrophic levels. 🔴 Food is dangerously scarce, and clean water is below emergency levels . 🔴 Aid is severely restricted and dangerous to access. This is a man-made disaster. Enough is enough. The United Nations must be allowed to deliver aid of all types at scale to families, wherever they are.
