Silent Hill 1 went full circle with how it's aged as a game. Everything about it is borderline archaic (graphics, acting, gameplay, animations etc) but Indi horror devs these days try to replicate that exact feel and vibe constantly. I think 10 years ago people would say it's aged badly but now days I think it's aged masterfully in a way.

@revenant_MMXX The translation, and the awful graphics (which were substandard even for the time).
The mistakes were forgivable at the time because there were a lot of other games coming out that DGAF about good writing or pleasing visuals. But it’s a hard game to try to replay now.

@JJunkWarrior Never did a full playthrough with the original camera but I always liked that it was a toggle. You can actually see better with it in some areas

@Boshikage_Yowie really cool detail that clips of this can't show is that when kiryu gets stabbed your controller vibrates. kiwami 2 fucked this cutscene up so bad lmao they did not need to add a stabbing sound effect.

That said I’d rather have no remake than a bad remake, and I doubt they will ever remake these bc Miyazaki rarely looks backwards.

However if you’re comparing it to the feel of Elden Ring and Sekiro it feels like a game from a different era (which it is). The graphics aren’t the problem at all, I like the look, the gameplay just sucks.
