Journalists and politicians being exclusively on Twitter is a major barrier for migrating to other platforms that aren't run by a right wing nutjob. If you aren't ready to migrate entirely, use a cross-posting service (I've been using and enjoying like Buffer) to make life easier

“Closing Time” by Semisonic is playing at the dance, the fluorescent lights have come on, some jerks are trying to start a fight, and your friends are inviting you to an after party. It’s time to roll.

The Alki Healthy street upgrades have made the street more accessible and family friendly. Tell SDOT what you like about it and what things could be improved: surveymonkey.com/r/AlkiPtSHS
Gordon Padelford@GordonOfSeattle

No childcare today, so I took the kiddo to visit the Alki Point #healthystreet upgrades & they are excellent! I saw kids biking in the new trail space, people with disabilities rolling, and 🛴🏃🏼‍♀️. Much more relaxing and welcoming atmosphere to watch the seabirds explore the beach

@GordonOfSeattle @hannahkrieg Thrilled by the ratio! But I think the answer for the difference is primarily different year (electorate, backlash concerns, top of ticket issues) and a weaker opponent than Gonzales faced.

@hannahkrieg looks like IEs spent 180k for AMR vs 240k for Woo, vs ~900k for Gonzalez vs ~1,300k for Harrell, which is a similar ratio? Is my math bad, are public disclosure #s not updated, or did between 2021 and 2024 the left lane candidate figure out how to do more with a similar $ ratio?

Also, year to year, Seattle voters are super reactionary/anti-incumbent. In 2023, the conservative slate was the change and in 2024 AMR is the change. Read more here: thestranger.com/news/2024/11/1…

We don't even have the words to express how proud we are that Washington voters voted down BY DOUBLE DIGITS the main three deceptive statewide initiatives backed by GOP hedge fund manager Brian Heywood 😭 This victory is huge for kids, seniors, and our clean air!

“There is healthy introspection going on right now on the left on how we may have gotten in our own way in terms of getting stuff done. The one that’s provoked the most discussion from people like @ezraklein & @mattyglesias is around housing.”

🚨 Election Update: Measure FF passed! Berkeley voters just approved Measure FF, a groundbreaking measure will provide more than $250M over 14 years for street repair, repaving, and life-saving safety infrastructure. The measure was placed on the ballot by volunteer signature gatherers who collected thousands of signatures. This is a huge win and demonstrates both broad support for safer streets and the effectiveness of our grassroots organizing. In addition to better maintained, smoother streets, this means we can expect more improvements such as better sidewalks, flashing beacons, raised crosswalks, traffic calming, protected bike lanes, landscaping, and signal prioritization. To learn more about the Measure and how it will improve Berkeley’s streets, visit YesonFF.com! With about two thirds of votes counted, Measure FF has received more than 60% approval. Although more votes have yet to be counted, this incredibly positive result indicates that it’s clear FF has passed! From beginning to end, this campaign was a truly community-driven, grassroots endeavor. Thank you to every volunteer who gathered signatures, canvassed, put up a lawn sign, and talked to family or neighbors about the measure. Our collective voices and actions will lead to real change on Berkeley’s streets to make them safer, more accessible, more sustainable, and smoother — all while avoiding greater maintenance obligations in the future. You did it!

Fun fact: Seattle's transportation levy, Prop 1 now has over 250,000 yes votes. That's more than any Seattle level politician. And it won in almost every neighborhood across the city — take a look at this map. Talk about a mandate!
