A thread. What has an incurable (currently), degenerative and progressive brain disease taught me as a follower of Christ? I’ll shall try to list them. 1) In Parkinson’s we are “on” or “off”. This is when the meds are working or they have run out. I take them 3 hourly.

The deepest sense in which "God cannot be mocked" is the literal one. You simply cannot plumb a deeper depth than God crucified. Everything since has been laughably tame and woefully out of date.

@glenscrivener I was elected to the Diocesan Synod on the casting of lots. I received exactly the same number of votes as someone else and the CofE rules say that in such circumstances lots decide it

Casting lots was, at times, a way to make decisions: — in OT (eg Lev 16:8; Josh 18:10) — for ancient people (eg Jonah 1:7) — in NT (eg Acts 1:26) — for Christians of the past (eg the Wesleys) Would you ever make a decision by lots? Why, generally, do we recoil from the idea?
