Un'organizzazione intergovernativa basata sulla difesa reciproca (art. 5), secondo cui un attacco a uno dei membri è considerato un attacco all'intera alleanza. Mi viene l'ulcera se penso che noi europei non siamo mai stati attaccati da nessuno, tantomeno dalla Russia comunista. Spesa Militare Complessiva (Criteri NATO) Nel 2025/2026, l'Italia ha visto un incremento significativo del budget per la Difesa per allinearsi all'obiettivo del 2% del PIL richiesto dall'Alleanza Atlantica. Budget Totale 2026: Si stima una spesa che oscilla tra i 32 e i 35 miliardi di euro (secondo il bilancio dello Stato), ma che sale a oltre 45 miliardi di euro se calcolata secondo i parametri NATO (che includono pensioni del personale, costi dei Carabinieri per compiti militari e fondi del Ministero delle Imprese per i programmi d'arma). 2. Costo delle Basi USA e NATO in Italia L'Italia ospita circa 120 basi e installazioni americane o sotto comando NATO (come Aviano, Sigonella, Vicenza, Napoli e Gaeta). Contributo Diretto: L'Italia non paga "un affitto" agli Stati Uniti; al contrario, contribuisce alla gestione delle infrastrutture. Esiste un accordo di Bilateral Infrastructure Agreement per cui l'Italia copre circa il 30-40% dei costi operativi di queste basi (personale civile locale, utenze, manutenzioni ordinarie).
