Remember that scene in CS Lewis's the Magician's Nephew, a book written for kids ages 8-12, where Queen Jadis is taking Digory and Polly through the ruins of Charn, her former kingdom and they see all her courtiers turned to stone?
They ask the White Witch why she killed all those people and she replies "they had rebellious thoughts." That, alone, was sufficient to convey to a pre-teen reader that she was the villain, because of course people should not be murdered for thinking the wrong thoughts. No additional description was required to reveal her to be a force of evil and darkness. The child reader was expected to know and did know that she was the bad guy.
You see: back in 1955, eight-year-olds knew that murdering people for thinking thoughts you do not like was evil.
And that is most of my take on the Charlie Kirk murder.

@sharrond62 I have long called this the participation trophy generation. However, I may change it to the participation trophy mindset as it seems to have infected people of all ages. Giving people an award just for showing up has made an entitled brat into a stunded, narcissistic adult.

Because they are allowed to behave like spoilt children who have never been told no & think if they throw a toddler tandem every one will capitulate to their demands. No. Stand your ground. Stop giving in to these petulant children

Why would grown adults pull out of the running for a book award because there are other people in it who don't agree with them on something?🤷

I saw this on Facebook and immediately thought of @jk_rowling
An Orchid that starts off like a Dementor and then turns into a Phoenix. 😉

@celebrityradio We get this on a frequent basis where we live. A particularly large section of Oldham's population set them off for weddings and other celebrations. However, discussing such things might get me in trouble. So I won't.

@TRobinsonNewEra "Til we have built Jerusalem, in England's green and pleasant land." Isn't that how the song goes? Not sure this is what they meant.

@GBNEWS Does anyone else remember days when newspapers used say "30°C get in the garden!" Or is that just the Mandela effect? 🤔#Mandelaeffect #hotweather

Everyone should be very careful they don't start becoming what they despise in their foes.
Be better than your enemies, not as bad.

@ActivePatriotUK I went to a week long dance competition there in the early 90s. Our chalet was in the middle ring, the little lake had boats on it. It chucked it down all week, we loved every minute despite the fact it was rundown. But, now it's all about how it looks, not what you make of it
