@pijyon Some games wouldn't have had a remake if not for piracy, it was some final fantasy game if i remember correctly.
I'm not one to pirate but i feel that video games are a cultural medium and need to be preserved, imagine if the books of old weren't copied, all the lost litterature

海外の海賊版認識についてちょっとわかったことがある。海外の人はすでに販売終了になったゲーム等ついて、ある意味で保存的な目的で海賊版はギリ許されると考えている。
これに関しては海賊版は許されるという言い方ではなく、アーカイブをしていこうみたいな発信にすると反応が変わる可能性がある。（もちろん日本で許容しない人も多いだろうが）
一方で、日本人がダメと強く言ってる海賊版とは、発売したばかりのもの、販売中のものだ。もちろん販売終了したものに関してもダメとは思っているが、前者と後者では拒否感の強度はかなり変わるだろう。
単純に海賊版、と言った場合、多くの日本人が思い浮かべるのは前者だという認識は必要だろう。

As I've said before, there's a vastly different cultural mentality toward ownership in Japan vs. the West. Japan is the land of limited time goods and services. When it's over, it's over. If you can't get it through official channels, they believe you have no right to it.

@QBK1172827 @MizutamariVT @kanpen it's actually the case in europe for exemple, the law changed and what they did to the nier game isnt considered piracy, cause it use your own data (from when the game was released) on a fake server. Nothing is stolen.

Japanese copyright views confuse me cause on one hand, they have a thriving and extremely popular doujinshi culture which openly violates copyright in the same way all fanart does and this is seen as acceptable simply because the companies don't pursue them.
But ensuring a game they payed for can still be played after EOS is seen as some extreme flagrant disregard for copyright law even though by japanese law, it's still likely completely legal in most cases to do it.
Japan's stricter view of copyright seems to stop completely with specifically playing games and watching anime, nothing else.

@342nomajo In short: We missed our tranfer flight to Osaka because Air Canada (🖕) had to the delay the first flight (2 hours..), so we had to take 2 shinkansens to get to our hotel. They were the last shinkansens of the night and if we fucked up we might've been in a deeper hell lol
