Two years ago, we met a group of women in Chikkodi, Belgaum. Many were in debt. Some had never thought about savings or budgeting. We spent 2 days together learning the basics of financial literacy through @ZerodhaVarsity with the help of Svatah Foundation (@teamsvatah) and Pankh India (@TweetPankh). But instead of stopping there, we kept in touch and continued helping them for 2 years. Today, most of these women are debt-free. For someone from a low-income background, that's true financial independence. This is why we do what we do. 😀

On a mud ground in Mayakka Chinchali, I met 29 incredible rural girls training as national-level kabaddi players — with almost no facilities, just grit and passion.

Found a photo with the Teepoi team and it took me straight back to our first documentary shoot in Chikodi. Their calm energy, sensitivity and the way they captured raw village life still stays with me. Thanks to Vishwesh Bhagirathi Shivaprasad, Karishma Rao & Team Teepoi.

Every time I’m with them, I’m reminded that happiness doesn’t need much.The girls don’t just learn from me , they bring back the childlike part of me I love the most. Happy Children’s Day !! And I hope you find moments today that make you feel like a child again. 💛

We were sitting on the ground, the girls shaping small mud ladoos with so much focus and excitement. And before I even realised it, I was doing the same! no rush, no overthinking!! Just hands in the mud and a quiet, simple joy.

Because sometimes, the most beautiful connections begin when we look through the same circle… from two different ends. 🪔 HAPPY DIWALI

As we celebrate Diwali and light lamps to remove darkness, let’s also light the lamp of empathy , to look beyond our own view, to understand the struggles, dreams, and hopes on the other side.

This Diwali, try seeing the other side ! We were at a small rural school, and amidst the laughter and chatter, this curious little girl rolled up her yoga mat and looked at me through it ! giggling as if it were a telescope ! I bent down and did the same from the other side!

They give me far more than I could ever give them!  positivity, laughter, and a reason to keep walking on this path of creating opportunities for rural communities.

Every time I am with them, I feel grounded and grateful. From them I learn that happiness doesn’t need luxury, that real learning starts with curiosity, and that sometimes, just a simple smile can brighten someone’s whole day. 💛

Nothing matches the joy of being with rural children. Their energy is so pure that it instantly transforms the atmosphere , turning even an ordinary day into something magical.
