Something that happens to me literally every time I'm talking politics with a liberal: I'll mention that the gun control is a total dealbreaker on voting blue for a lot of people. They respond with "nobody wants to take your guns, that's just republican fearmongering." I point out that no, literally every democrat candidate wants an assault weapons ban. That's not some republican lie, it's literally right there on their own issues pages. Rather than acknowledging that they were incorrect and continuing the conversation from there, they just immediately pivot to "omg nobody needs an assault weapon!" It's literally like a script, I've had the exact same conversation like 1000 times.

@FroemelAndy @veizau They do. In fact, you could see this at play in larger scale on countries. Poor countries with underserved communities have more crimes than those who have proper institutions in place. Some even have civil wars since government institutions does not exist in some communities.

One of the more treacherous and under-discussed aspects of the woke revolution and the Black Lives Matter era is that the ideology was a propaganda campaign aimed at law-abiding black Americans to convince them that they had to live like this and that any action to remove these kinds of problems from their communities was a Trojan Horse aimed at somehow oppressing them. Public intellectuals like Ta-Nehisi Coates and Ibram Kendi argued that crime and disorder were not actually more prevalent in black communities than in white ones — actions were merely perceived as criminal or disorderly when black people did them and innocuous and noncriminal when white people did the same thing. “Justice involved” black people were not criminals, they were criminalized. Kendi wrote an article in The Atlantic titled “What's the Difference Between a Frat and a Gang?” in which he argued that the only difference between crime-infested ghettos and college communities is that people perceive ghettos through a racist worldview. In other words, Black Lives Matter was a multibillion-dollar, institution-backed campaign to convince people like this stylish, studious, quiet gentleman that it is perfectly normal to have to deal with this, that white people encounter this kind of situation all the time from other white people and tolerate it out of racial solidarity with the perpetrators and then lie about it in furtherance of a collective racist agenda, that anyone who tells him that there is anything wrong with this is a racist who is gaslighting him, and that anyone who comes for the black guy blaring his speaker on the subway and threatening to cut people will be coming next for the black guy who quietly listens to his headphones while he reads his book. The reason this kind of thing is still allowed to happen is because the movement successfully convinced most of the victims of this kind of behavior that it is racist to do anything about it.
