🚨 MIKE POSNER SAYS HIS $70,000 ROLEX MADE HIM MISERABLE — SO HE DITCHED IT FOR A $40 TIMEX American singer and producer Mike Posner says buying a luxury Rolex turned out to be one of the worst “deals” he ever made. He thought the watch would make him feel cooler. Instead, it made him anxious. Posner says every time he traveled with it, he was constantly worried: • it would get scratched • a backpack zipper would damage the face • he’d forget it in a hotel safe He says the watch was a Rolex Day-Date with a diamond bezel, a model often referred to as the “Presidential” Rolex because it has been worn by multiple U.S. presidents. Eventually he realized something unsettling. “I didn’t possess the Rolex… it possessed me.” So he ditched it. Now he wears a simple Timex and says it gives him way more joy because he doesn’t have to worry about it. His message: “Don’t slave away for possessions… don’t let your possessions possess you.” Did Mike Posner just say the quiet part out loud about luxury status symbols?

@EdLudlow I think inviting @asha_shar onto @technology would be an excellent choice. Xbox Cloud, next gen of consoles in light of memory price inflation, Gamepass, vision and values - so much to glean from the new chief executive.

@EdLudlow Agreed, Xbox cloud is shaping up really well, it certainly helps I have Starlink and not uk rural broadband. Despite being a great product mileage will vary depending on location and access to good internet

Xbox for me has been through Xbox Cloud Gaming via the Samsung TV app. It's surprisingly good with Game Pass in terms of gameplay experience but also the library. Have always been a PlayStation (console) guy but haven't switched it on for a little while now. Hardware less motivating for me. I want decent games to play

@EdLudlow Because of the transatlantic time difference I enjoy the pod when walking the dog after work. Love it. I have now finally adjusted to the new theme music.

@GraCarr Very interesting. One question I have been putting in to Grok, ChatGPT and Gemini: What are the best (and most recent) PC-only games that I need to play?

I've said it before and I will say it again. SWTOR in 2026 is absolutely amazing. And it is completely worth revisiting/playing. #SWTOR

@scottmelker Same here. 6.5 hours of sleep is the right amount, stopped drinking alcohol. Also stopped drinking coffee 7 months ago and swapped to green tea, a game changer to freedom in the mornings.

The Wolf Of All Streets@scottmelker·
I’ve made a handful of boring, unsexy health changes over the last year that completely changed how I feel day to day. Not hacks or extremes. Just removing friction and noise. A few things that surprised me: Sleep – I finally tracked it consistently instead of guessing. Turns out my body is medically tuned to function best at ~6.5 hours. More than that actually makes me groggy. That’s not advice – it’s just how my body works. The big win was removing guilt and overthinking around sleep. I use an Oura ring to passively track this. Phone hygiene – I deleted all social media from my phone. No death scrolling. Ever. I still post and engage, just intentionally, from desktop. Screen time dropped off a cliff. Mental noise went with it. Diet – cleaned it up and cut alcohol entirely. No moral stance, no “never again” manifesto. I just realized alcohol was the single biggest drag on my sleep, mood, and recovery at my age. The downstream effects shocked me. Stress is rare. My lifelong ADHD symptoms are dramatically quieter. Focus is easy. Energy is stable. My BMI, body composition, and resting metrics are all objectively excellent. Because of that, I don’t need a ton of training volume. I lift, move, stay active – but I don’t grind cardio for the sake of it. The data says I’m in great shape, so I stopped chasing exhaustion as a proxy for health. I learned that the recovery matters as much as the effort. The funny part is that doing less worked better. When sleep, diet, dopamine, and recovery aren’t wrecked, the body largely self-regulates. My biological age is 37. I am 49. None of this makes me special. I didn’t unlock a secret. I mostly stopped doing the things that were screwing me up and let baseline human physiology do its job. Sharing because I used to think feeling wired, distracted, and tired was just the cost of being ambitious. Turns out it was optional.
