@Toadly9 @yuki_toushika Social security was supposed to be a safety net for retirement, but due to out-of-control spending, even the safety net isn't enough, forcing everyone to rely on 401(k)s and investments to make up the gap. Ordinary people even have to gamble on market conditions for retirement.

@Grace75441 @yuki_toushika It's worse because if we could control the money that was taken by social security it would be enough to retire on. Meaning it would be much higher value. Unfortunately the amount you receive at age 68 is not enough to live. About 300,000 yen a month.

@yuki_toushika So for Americans we are forced to lose 15% of pay for social security which will run out of money in 2036. Then we try to save 10-15% of our pay in 401k. Lower wage people can only do 2-4% Then if you can afford you then invest in stocks or crypto. Usually happens when older
