@elonmusk @profstonge You want all this for other but you most likely will never be able to experience it in your lifetime. You see far beyond the physical experience and appreciate the conscious mind. Its truly is unique and awe inspiring.

Thank you. The important part is zeroing out taxes on the bottom half. Best way to put money in someone’s pocket is to not take it out in the first place. Bottom half is only 3% of total tax revenue. But it’s very meaningful to that person. Zero it out.

Facts It's great that Jeff Bezos thinks this way, because too many people who don't make money think that giving money to the government will solve a lot of their problems. They think these government programs are the answer, and it's clearly not. You can look at the federal level or at the state level, and you will see that a lot of government programs are simply waste.

High-cycle, reliable engine reflight without replacement, refurbishment or laborious inspection is about the same degree of difficulty as a rapidly reusable heat shield. And then there are thousands of smaller challenges throughout the primary structure. This is a crazy hard problem.

Elon Musk says one heat shield problem could kill Starship's reusability for years. Starship is the most complicated machine humans have ever built. The hardest part isn't the engines. It isn't the steel. It isn't even the explosion margin on liftoff. Musk named the one remaining bottleneck. "It's having the heat shield be reusable. No one's ever made a reusable orbital heat shield." The shield does two impossible jobs. "It's gotta make it through the ascent phase without shucking a bunch of tiles, and then it's gotta come back in and also not lose a bunch of tiles or overheat the main airframe." 40,000 tiles per ship. Musk reframed the consumable problem through brake pads: "Your brake pads in your car are also consumable, but they last a very long time." The shield must consume slowly. It must not require inspection between launches. Musk on the current state: "We have brought the ship back and had it do a soft landing in the ocean. But it lost a lot of tiles." A soft landing is not reusability. The bar is daily launches. One ship. Many flights. Musk, on the gap that's left: "You can't do this laborious inspection of 40,000 tiles type of thing." The first reusable heat shield in history is the last gate to Mars. If you're new here, @GeniusGTX is a gallery for the greatest minds in economics, psychology, and history. JUST IN: Jennifer Schubert questioned Shivon Zilis about text exchanges with Elon Musk after his OpenAI board departure. This messages reveals Musk wanted to move 3-4 OpenAI employees to Tesla and Zilis continued facilitating communication between the parties despite the tension. Schubert quoted Zilis's text: "Just focusing on the first few texts, the first text from you at 04:01AM states, do you prefer I close and friendly to OpenAI to keep info flowing or begin to disassociate. Trust game is about to get tricky." Musk's response to staying close: "Close and friendly, but we are going to actively try to move three or four people from OpenAI to Tesla. More than that will join over time, but we won't actively recruit them." Zilis explained her historical role: "Well, my role historically had been to facilitate communication for the greatest possible good. From the beginning, my role had been to facilitate communication between all of the major parties to maintain maximum alignment between them." On Musk's stated reason for leaving: "I would have preferred if I wrote trust framework. But essentially, he had left the board with the expressed reason that they're just you know, maybe some competition over talent in the future." Zilis described the dynamic: "Again, we were navigating a tricky half breakup. Elon had stepped off the board because of competitive talent considerations." After Musk's departure, Schubert asked: "Did Sam or Greg still ask you to convey information to Elon?" Zilis answered candidly: "Well, I guess, one, historically, I'd been very good at doing that. Just candidly, they were kinda bad at speaking to each other sometimes." On trust frameworks between parties: "I would love to keep helping you as much as I can, but important to figure out the correct frameworks for trust for each other." Elon Musk VS OPEN AI, Day 7

JUST IN: Shivon Zilis testified she relayed summary notes from cofounder conversations to Elon Musk and had no reason to doubt their statements about supporting the nonprofit. She also clarified Tesla's AI focus was practical Autopilot, not AGI research. Attorney Jennifer Schubert asked: "Did you have any reason to believe those statements were not genuine at the time?" Zilis answered: "I did not." On the nature of her communications: "No. They were summary notes." Zilis confirmed the conversations addressed both companies: "Yes. They did discuss OpenAI and Tesla." She then distinguished their focuses: "So what OpenAI was focused on was fundamental research and demonstrations of capabilities that they believe were on the path to building AGI. What Tesla's focus was was to create AI applications that had high utility in the world, which is what Autopilot was." On Tesla's Autopilot goals, Zilis stated: "The focus was, I guess, you could call it twofold. So the first piece was to create Autopilot, which is autonomous cars that can self-navigate in the world. Autopilot. And the second was to create the AI-specific chips required to support that." The messaging for Autopilot: "Essentially mean that you don't have to drive your car anymore. Your car will drive itself." When asked if Autopilot achieved this, Zilis answered: "It did not. I don't believe it has to this day." On Elon's departure: "Yes. He left the board in February 2018." Greg Brockman proposed backfilling Elon's seat with Zilis. She testified: "Yeah, I remember. Greg had raised an idea, and that was for me to backfill the board seat that Elon was vacating. We ended up having discussions all around on that particular topic and decided that the better path would be for me to just stay in an advisory role as opposed to joining the board."
