Jonathan Ruane ( @jonruane ) is the first Sligo man to ever summit Mount Everest, and the first Irish to summit this season, standing on top of the World at 5:30am this morning 🏔 🙌 To say I am proud is an understatement. An incredible achievement and happy he’s coming home 🙌

@health_irish @ritakj Oh my first day as a doctor we had a 3 month backlog of discharge letters to do with ~10 discharges per day. There was a whole office stacked to the ceilings with charts. We never left before 10pm on that rotation to just catch up to our own patients

@ritakj Hugely dangerous and completely understandable. Worst stint I had was a backlog of maybe 40+ D/C letters over a month where we were in at 7am, leaving at 8pm/9pm every day. Friday before changeover, sat down and typed out them all out. Not enough doctors = Quality deteriorates

Another patient today discharged with no letter!!This is lethal!! and makes GPs job impossible- We know hospitals are busy- so are we - without the discharge we are working in the dark- huge risk for all concerned -#transitionalcare

I’m so ashamed now to think that over the last few months the “ICU numbers” have at times become just a sign for what level of restrictions we were in. Sometimes forgetting the humans behind it. I know I didn’t truly understand.
