Dr. Angry Grad

At the beginning of my last year of grad school, I had a falling out with my toxic advisor & was told I wouldn’t be able to graduate. Many months later I have completed and successfully defended my dissertation. It took great courage & perseverance…but I’m now Dr. Angry Grad!

People may give you advice to hide that part of your research or who you are to get a job. Do NOT let the hatred or fear win! Your work is still valued and is needed now more than ever!

Let’s talk about navigating the job market for people who study DEI or who are from stigmatized communities.

I know that this platform has gone downhill, but I just wanted to take a moment to thank each & every one of my followers for your support. Y’all got me through the depths of hell during graduate school 🥹 I will never forget that!!

Academia can be so draining…

In academia, it’s glorified when you overwork. What is one thing you’ve done to set healthy work/life boundaries?

@GradSkoolStrugs I got booted from academia for being disabled. That helped a ton 🫠

@erinvaughn82 I also no longer work on the weekends and it has done wonders for my productivity and mental health!

What is something that you thought before grad school that ended up being completely wrong about academia?

Having a PhD doesn’t guarantee that you’ll be paid well 🥴

Today has been one of those days for me 🫠

Some days, you just have to take the “L” and hope for a better day the next day.

I wish 😅 I’m already barely hanging on as is it in the mornings
