@SHistorians I suspect most of the people who want to shrink the game remember what it was like 40 years ago and their feelings aren’t unwarranted. Same rules, wildly different game today

For the record the most overused phrase on Golf Twitter is “SHRINK THE GAME.” Everytime I read it I cringe.

I just received contract details for Utah State's new head coach Ben Jacobson. His annual salary will start at $1.2 million, increasing by $50k until it reaches $1.4 million by the final year of his contract. The buyout is 75% of the cumulative remaining salary with each year's term ending on March 31.

@greggers1868 @jwalker_sports Jacobson has been a coach for a while making a nice salary in small town Iowa, I don’t think he much cares about the money and would rather have more funds available for Roster/Assistants.

@Batch40oz I’m not hopeful, but I sure wish we the long-time season ticket holders would get some sort of explanation eventually. Makes it significantly more challenging to be emotionally invested in the program when there is an exodus every other year 😔

Kenzie Hare hurts, I really got to know her at some of the events, her and Reagan Wilson were the most personable and I am sad they are moving on. Maybe Bill can convince one or two of them back, but it’s looking bleak right now.

I was on a Teams call yesterday with 5 people, and one was a female Commander (O5) from an Echelon 2 Command (4 Star). She spoke with a very noticeable vocal fry (low-frequency, creaky, or gravelly speech pattern) and it drove me absolutely NUTS that a Naval Officer would adopt that speech pattern. Yes, it's a choice; no you do NOT normally talk like that. Like it or not, if you speak with a vocal fry you're perceived as annoying, unprofessional, and lack authority, competence, or confidence. Those negative qualities are anathema to being a Naval Officer or in a leadership role anywhere. Stop it. Leave it for the 20-year old sorority sisters.

@Serenity3000 @Empty_America Yep! Same for me….not a good GPA because classes weren’t my thing, but I loved standardized tests because (at that time, maybe it’s changed with computers?) the tests were a game you could figure out. I got 1540 my first time despite being a below average student 🤷🏼‍♂️

@Empty_America The SAT is weird. I was a horrible student with a 2.3 GPA and a lot of tough things going on at home at the time. I had forgotten it was test day. I swung a 1510 first try. I left to get my GED like a month later. It doesn't indicate what they think it does.

If Harvard admitted students strictly by SAT score, filling slots in descending order starting at 1600, what would be the lowest SAT score admitted to the school? And what would be the resulting demographics of the student body?

Why TJ won’t leave Iowa State 1. He’s able to build title contenders there 2. It’s home - he’s spent 13 years there, wife is in the ISU hall of fame. Midwest guy in his dream job 3. makes $4M/yr in Ames You call him bc he’s amazing, but he’ll stay put

@DrHelenFry When I was a kid (80s) , all my grandparents an their friends were WW2 vets, and they all had a combination of amazing stories and amazing dedication to country that was inspiring. I was immediately fascinated an have remained so for 40 years

Have we ever had the discussion on why golf courses don’t have 6 par 3’s, 6 par 4’s and 6 par 5’s To me it makes a lot of sense, and I think par 3’s and par 5’s are some of the best holes on a lot of courses and having more of them makes courses more fun, and have more variety
