@MadsDavies @McCrimmons I’m in the unusual position of having just taken over a benefice for which I wrote the profile 6 years ago. I think the key requirement is the truth, not a gilded version based on what they’d like the benefice to be. You should be able to construct a benefice action plan from it.
English

@2D0XPS I framed mine to make it easy to find. And I haven’t been asked for it since.

If you were in charge of #SAFC, would you make Lutsharel Geertruida's loan spell permanent?🤔

English

@NorthantsCodger Ah, because the Bishop wasn’t able to come next week so the induction had to be a week before I could be there. The baptism family is half Canadian and understandably didn’t want to change the date after they’d booked flights etc!
English

@GrahamBrack Strange, I thought your new church would be full today checking out the new vicar after your induction.
Why is this not the case?
English

@NathenAmin @AnnieWHistory @MattLewisAuthor Allow me to ask a supplementary. I don't think Henry would have succeeded against united Yorkists, but I think his mother might have pushed him into an invasion anyway. What was his purpose in life if he didn't invade?
English

@AnnieWHistory @MattLewisAuthor No. He had no mandate to do so. Henry's claim only begins once Edward V and arguably Buckingham are out the picture.
English

Not my period (though I did it for A Level & take an interest) & it's probably a stupid question but I've been pondering this & what do we think: if Edward V had kept the kingship, with Gloucester as protector, would Henry Tudor still have invaded? @MattLewisAuthor @NathenAmin?
English

@ianbourns We’ve been under a Reform council for a year now and I can’t say that maths is their strong point.
English

@GrahamBrack If it isn’t, move before you get your next council tax bill.
English

@2D0XPS I think it's an oversimplification. In the 60s there were people who came to our Evensong because their own parish didn't have one. But I think the parish communion movement also played a part - there were clergy who gave the impression HC "counted" for more than MP/EP.
English

Often cited as the thing that killed off going to church twice on a Sunday.
I'm not quite sure it's true, but either way recovering evening services is difficult as there're now several generations who think of church attendance as an hour on Sunday morning.

@LeenaRonal80521 I toyed with that, then thought it would be better to imagine her face as she got off the plane.
English

@GrahamBrack Did you put them right? You could have said something polite and deadly. Be worth it, if only to see their expression.
English

@Kriskirb If I did people would think it was OTT. But these people move among us. They have debit cards and votes.
English

@Kriskirb @LuxPatrum Latin original on the left page, English translation on the right.
English

Well, @LuxPatrum this is very fine, and an excellent price. Large pot of coffee called for so I don’t have to keep getting up….

English

@ianbourns Our sacristan complained that we failed to drain a chalice after last night's Eucharist, which just shows how many there were that one was overlooked. Whatever that test, I doubt we'd have passed it.
I think that if you can recall which knee to genuflect on , you're ok.
English

@GrahamBrack What’s the religious version of a driving sobriety test ?
English

@purgstallheath Thank you. You have enough to do without slogging out to the far-flung corners of the county! So far, so good. Diary already overspilling but at least relatively few signs of heresy.
English

@GrahamBrack Warmest congratulations on your new role. Sincerely sorry not to be able to be with you last night, as regrettably needed to be home. I hope Day One has been joyful!
