What is the desired outcome from this type of tackle technique (other than snapping a leg in half)?

@CouchNish I've seen so many Utd fans laughing at the suggestion this was a red because he didn't make contact with the player. That is as wild, dangerous and out of control as any tackle you'll see this season but if your a Utd fan if he didn't snap his leg in 2 its all fair.
