Might be an unpopular opinion but going from 48 to 64 is a W.
✅ No 3rd place teams make the knockout rounds- 16 groups of 4, top 2 from each group make RO32
✅ Adding 16 teams (4 groups of 4) adds 24 more games
✅ We’d be adding decent teams like: 🇮🇹🇩🇰🇵🇱🇮🇪🇭🇺🇳🇬🇨🇲🇨🇷

64 teams will basically kill international football.
Qualifiers are practically meaningless.
World Cup group stages will rarely see any heavyweight clashes anymore.
Major tournaments become the only source of drama and excitement.
I pray this doesn't happen.

Gianni Infantino has said FIFA will examine expanding the World Cup by a further 16 nations to a 64-team tournament ahead of its next edition in 2030. The 2030 tournament will be spread across six nations and three continents: Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay are scheduled to host one match apiece at the start of the competition, with the remaining games split between Morocco, Portugal and Spain. @ScottYoshonis I like the World Cup and Euros, and Copa, but that should be it. I’d rather not have the October international break than have international soccer. I love club soccer. Love the WC and Euros, too, but not with 49 breaks a year from the club game.

@GPSparty I don’t think it improves the World Cup. But I can deal with a little less quality every four years, not to disrupt the club seasons which make the sport.

@Graham_Couch I disagree. While I think the move to 48 worked because sides like Cape Verde shined, I think 64 is getting to the point of diluting the quality.

Kentucky says it will pay MSU $3.95 million between now and July 1, 2027 under the terms of Batt’s contract buyout. Unclear if that was negotiated down or if Batt will pay the remaining $1.05M out of pocket.
