🧐 GMs job is to make roster moves, was a question when Bruce was here who was making these decisions on call-ups, was always told this is always Don’s final decision. Doubt Don is losing power or passing that to a first year coach so..

Don Sweeney on Hagens starting in Providence and whether he might get NHL reps this season:
"Ultimately, it'd be Marco's decision in terms of who goes in and who comes out of the lineup, and James may or may not be part of that.
"But deep down, this just gives him the opportunity. He was ready to leave school, he wanted to leave and have the opportunity to play pro, and this provides the immediate opportunity to be in the lineup and take what a lot of people think are necessary steps."

Do people really think Sweeney's plan is to put Hagens in Providence and leave him there for years? I can't sometimes with the comments out here. Have a little patience. Its not like adding him wins a cup this year. #nhlbruins

Sweeney on what Hagens needs to improve on: “It’s off -puck details. There’s a few players in this league who can outscore some deficiencies, but the details. The space is limited, the stakes are higher.” Says he has to be a more complete player and be more invested in details.

Don Sweeney says the Bruins being in such a tight playoff race makes it more challenging to integrate James Hagens right away, and that ultimately it would be Marco Sturm’s call on whether Hagens has a spot in Boston’s lineup.

Hagens will make his pro debut for the Providence Bruins Wednesday night.

@GraigMurphy @smclaughlin9 If you wouldn’t take that risk, that’s fine. Cole Eiserman played it safe chose to sign his ELC to start next season AND is playing on an ATO. But considering multiple players have done it, doesn’t seem like a stupid idea, just different priorities/ risk vs reward

Correct. Hagens is not eligible for an ELC slide, so how many NHL games he plays this season does not matter.

@GraigMurphy @smclaughlin9 The difference in sitting that extra month is the difference between still being on his ELC in 2028-29 and making millions more on his big money deal out of ELC. That’s why anyone burns the year. Difference is the Bruins want to see how be plays pro before burning a year.
