Reporter: “What can we expect from the NATO countries that spend the least (…), like Spain, below 5%?”
Trump: “Spain is very low. Are they a BRICS nation?”
Reporter: “What?”
Trump: “They are a BRICS nation. Spain. Do you know what a BRICS nation is?”

@LukasRentz@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap You make it sound like Europe straddles an area equidistant to artic and tropics, when it's closer to the former. Without amoc a massive heating of the distant tropics will be needed to warm Southern Europe even more (not saying it can't happen)
@GranPetitIndi@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap Thought it was understandable what i´ve meant.
We know that the Tropics would warm. We know the Polar Regions would cool. The Border between both effects has to be somewhere. Europe is going to lie between those two Effects. Parts of Europe would cool. Parts would warm.
@GranPetitIndi@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap Differences in local climate during last glacial Maximum throughout europe have been larger than whats to expect with AMOC's collapse, so it does not defy common sense.
We know, that inner and outer Tropics would warm. The Border between warming and cooling has to be somewhere.
@LukasRentz@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap Even Pacific coast is comparitevly cooler than Western Europe. At any rate, my point is that predicting both substantial cooling and warming for contiguous areas within a relatively small territory defies common sense. Great fluctuations across most of Europe seems more likely.
@GranPetitIndi@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap Africa and the Hadley Cell play a big Role in the Climate of the Mediterranean. Comparisons can be made with the US West Coast/Pacific Northwest.
@LukasRentz@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap Couple this with the fact that Europe (excluding Scandinavia) is a very small continent. I don't see how the weather could ever be much colder in Northern France or England than in Southern France or Northern Spain.
@LukasRentz@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap Southwestern Europe has significantly warmer weather than anywhere else at the same latitude, not just US East Coast. And it can't be explained just by the influence of the Med -hence my reference to Portugal.
@LukasRentz@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap I find that difficult to belive given how exceptionally warm the weather already is in southern Europe. Most capitals in that area are between Washington and Maine. What would happen to Portugal?
@GranPetitIndi@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap There are several studies on the Impacts of AMOC´s collapse. Usually the Outcome is a cooling down of Scandinavia, Iceland, and the British Isles while the warming effect of Climate Change in Southern Europe will be greater than the cooling down effect. The Mediterranean ...
@schwarzmaler20@amazingmap Switching off the Gulfstream would lead to higher Temperatures in Southern europe. Colder of course in Scandinavia.
Even without Gulfstream, the Atlantic Ocean will remain west of Europe, which means we'll still have an oceanic climate in the continent's western half.

I no has de gastar-te 40 milions.
