@rik_big Dead right. Been to NFL games in the States; 10 minutes of real action in about 4 hours. The US crowd has the attention span of gnats; constantly up and down to go and get food and drink, meet friends, generally piss around. More of an ordeal than a sporting event tbh.

American "football" is, in fact, THE most boring game on the planet...it's even more boring than cricket, which is impressive on it's own.. Absolutely nothing happens for huge periods of time, so much so that they have to lay on other forms of entertainment..and barbecues..

@jessicaelgot The US sporting public doesn’t have the mental capacity for football though. If it doesn’t involve huge scores, endless ad breaks and huge franchises that they can adopt and discard at the drop of a hat, they’re not interested. Leave them to their own, insular sports.

Watching the Belgium game was like watching men against boys - but I do think lots of the Americans unfortunately have a point that if their best athletes played actual football instead of American football then they would a pretty dominant international team.
