@Kenneth53984220 @PrezWisdom In several regards yes yet contrast him to the 1. Andrew Johnson model, 2. abandonment of Reconstruction by the Liberal Republicans like Sen. Sumner, 3. mounting backlash Grant faced in the North when he used the Army in the South & his scope of options looks more limited perhaps

@PrezWisdom @GrantRevealed they should have been less concerned with peace and more concerned about ending racism... if the current era has taught us anything it is that Grant was Peace Too Soon

“We see a rainbow - hope - of the passing of the storm. The painting's name: The Peacemakers, for me, is a constant reassurance the cause of peace will triumph & ours can be the future Lincoln gave his life for: a future free of both tyranny & fear” - George HW Bush 🇺🇸 #POTUS 🎩

Theodore Roosevelt was first American President to ride publicly in a car, 120 years ago today, Hartford, Connecticut. And the car (Columbia Victoria Phaeton) was electric.

One reason so many people engage in counterfactual thinking about history is that it relieves them of the need to find out and understand what actually happened. That would mean doing a lot of reading and learning.

Though back in May there was press mention of Grant inspiring Cheney, I didn’t expect her to invoke him last night. Of course, it brought forth the old refrains: “Grant the Butcher,” “only won because Lee was sick,” etc. E.g. the comments to this… twitter.com/greg_price11/s…
Greg Price@greg_price11

But wait, she's not done yet. Liz Cheney went on to compare her fight to never let Trump become president again to Ulysses S. Grant marching south in the Battle of the Wilderness.

@ByingtonJohnnie so sorry. As a 4x cancer caregiver + a phase I clinical research manager for a big academic cancer center, all I can say is that I am sorry. We all wish we could have done better for you.

Today was my last oncologist appointment. There is nothing left to try. She gave me 3-6 months, and my final med refills. I knew it was close, and all the signs point it out. She's setting up my hospice, all I gotta do is call her. Whew...hard to describe my feelings.

@ByingtonJohnnie I'm sorry man. Cancer sucks. I've fought my GIST cancer since I was diagnosed in 07. It went away after surgery and treatment. Then it came back to finish the job in 2018. My goal is to make it to Christmas and New Years.

@KenardLevi @ByingtonJohnnie I was Diagnosed in 2009 with GIST (sarcoma). Many surgeries, radiation and now chemo. It’s terminal but, I just keep on living as best I can. It’s a beautiful life!

@ByingtonJohnnie This breaks my heart. I wish for you “a peaceful night and a perfect end,” in the words of the Compline service, The Book of Common Prayer (of The Episcopal Church). You have touched lives. Bless you.

@JudicialWatch @TomFitton Not only is this scaremongering tweet absurd on its face, but this politicization of the USMA was untoward in the light of the Class of 2024's concurrent Affirmation Ceremony. (Exchange Cadets elsewhere take their affirmation oath tomorrow.) #LikeNoneBefore | #GoArmy | #USMA2024

“West Point is the most important service academy in our nation. It has been around since the Revolutionary War & [CRT is] anti-Americanism/racial division. [CRT] is designed to attack one race and victimize another,” @TomFitton. WATCH: rumble.com/v199p5l-crt-ma…

Big day for our son at West Point! Affirmation Day for Cows (Juniors). On this day cadets commit to 8 years of military service. He represents less than 1% of Mexican Americans from South Texas. To say I’m a proud momma is an understatement 🥰🇺🇸🇲🇽#GoArmy

Fun discovery by @e_joseph_murphy. The Pittston Gazette (Pittston, Penn.), Aug. 6, 1863, published the text of a transparency appearing in a Belleville, Illinois, torchlit parade less than a month after the fall of Vicksburg. #ulyssessgrant #usgrant200 #civilwarhistory #ushistory

Alright everyone, which is your favorite of the Pittston Gazette’s nicknames for Ulysses S. Grant? There are a few good ones here, but I’m particularly fond of “Undoubtedly Spunky Grant.” cc: @NickSacco55

Peter Rothermel’s Battle of Gettysburg series of paintings is always incredible to check out at the State Museum, including his famous depiction of Pickett’s Charge.
