Some perspective is needed for many college baseball fans.
This team is currently fighting for a national seed and is a lock for hosting a regional. They're a top 3 team in the SEC in most relevant stats and they're on pace to have a top 5 season in school history in many categories (both offense and pitching). They're also the only team in school history to not lose a single game to a Q3 or Q4 opponent in the regular season and they swept our in-state rival 4-0.
They're playing at this elite level while heavily relying on many freshmen and sophomores, having their Friday night ace miss most of the season, and being in year 1 of a new coaching staff and program rebuild.
Our fans would have sold their souls to have this kind of season under Lemonis after 2021, and would have even begged for this kind of regular season in most years of school history. This team already has 38 wins and the regular season isn't even over and for context, there have only been 6 seasons in the last 26 years where they've won more than 41 games total.
It's baseball, it's the only sport where even the very best teams typically fail at each facet of the game more than they succeed. Enjoy the ride and get behind these boys as they make a post season run and don't forget this is just year 1 of MSU having the best coach in the game. #HailStateStats
