My inlaws started this Ben Franklin in Fayetteville, WV on July 1, 1955, my husband and I got married in June of 1984 and started working and eventually buying the business and building. We closed the store in March of 2023 and were the last Ben Franklin in West Virginia. This store was open just shy of 68 years.

This ignores all data points of the last 10 years. I'll give a few: ~3/4 of grads can't read or write (per US dept of EDU) ~20% of 30 y/o women have 1+ children (down from 50% in 1990) ~50% of grads are gay/bi/nonbinary (per USD dept of EDU), making the fertility trend of the above even worse And this is before we get into housing costs vs income, unemployment (it's 30%+, the stats have been rigged forever), and fraud. The good parts of the US are a tiny percentage of people being actively persecuted, and as Zuck/Bezos/Google Founders showed, they can just leave. Barring revolution, which we won't do, there's no fixing this.

People fail to grasp how powerful and great this machine of America is. It's like they think it is some tiny country in Eastern Europe with a population of 2 million and a GDP less than that of Dallas. People don't understand what it is that they are even living in. They don't know how powerful these gears are, how long the game is, how big the purpose is, how great the ship is.

Oh boy. Today I learned we pay $750m a year for a State Department program called “EducationUSA” that operates in 175 countries to recruit foreigners to apply to American universities like Princeton where they then come here, get so much money in scholarships thrown at them that they owe some tax (in this article it’s $15k) which they decide to not pay back! Princeton tried to help the Chilean guy in the article by loaning him money to pay his tax bill but rather than pay it back he just moved to another country and is now whining in the New York Times about it! Enjoy that while you file your taxes this year! Yes this was a spot at Princeton that your kid from Iowa didn’t get.

“Ms. Tully was on an income-based repayment plan, which allows many borrowers to have their remaining debt forgiven after 20 years … She was paying $60 per month when she defaulted. This amount, to many, may seem manageable. But for her, it remained psychologically burdensome”

Allow me to educate you: One friend of mine got banished from Broadway in 2020 for not getting the jab. She is a 2x Tony Award nominee and they still won't welcome her back. Another was fired from a world-famous band after posting about a book by a controversial journalist. Another was cancelled by a major symphony orchestra in 2020. He's currently suing another symphony orchestra that's trying to blackball him. Two friends of mine had their long and distinguished careers destroyed for voicing gender critical views. One is in the US, the other is in the UK (yes, it's an international problem). I'm still on a list in NYC for condemning pandemic policy and identity politics. Many people have had their lives ruined over the past decade for nothing more than their mere existence being offensive to left-wing orthodoxy. They had thriving careers doing what they loved, with people they thought were friends. Then they thought one wrong thing and it was all over. "Cancel Culture" doesn't grab headlines the way it did 10 years ago. It's no longer shocking. We've even grown used to it. But the thing is, most of the people who get cancelled aren't rich, famous comedians. That's why people like this person can pretend it doesn't happen, successfully signaling to peers that she's still "safe" to associate with, all while remaining blissfully ignorant of the devastation wrought over the past decade...most of it inflicted by people exactly like her.

Tell me again about cancel culture being real.

Or they are as useful as 5 and 10 cent stores were 100 years ago and they were in every small town across the country. The Ben Franklin franchise operated approximately 2,500 stores nationwide. F.W. Woolworth Co., had 3,000, GC Murphy's and McCrory Stores had roughly 1,500 each, Kressge also had several thousand, so did Grant's, not to mention all the regional stores, and then there were the Mom and Pop Five and dimes. which and all totaled over 20,000 across the country. Dollar General has 20,000 stores.

JESUS HAS RISEN Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth Banish the fear of death and think of the eternal life that follows it. That will show people that we really live our faith We celebrate Your Resurrection! We must live our lives full of faith. We know heavenly treasures await us.

As a proud Brit, I say: God bless America and God bless Donald Trump. I will always stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the US in its bold crusade for global freedom. If you stand with America and Trump, you're on the right side of history.

As an Iranian watching this rescue mission unfold, I was praying the American pilot would make it out alive, not just for him, but so the Islamic Republic could not use him as a bargaining chip or claim some twisted “victory.” At the same time, I felt a deep envy. Your government sent elite special forces, million-dollar aircraft, and moved heaven and earth to bring one American home. No hesitation. No excuses. In Iran, the regime uses human shields and recruited child soldiers to clear minefields during the Iran-Iraq war. They treat their own people like disposable tools. They are now recruiting child soldiers as we speak. The Islamic Republic has zero regard for human life. That’s the brutal difference. One side risks everything to save their own. The other sacrifices their own to stay in power. This hits hard when you have lived under both realities.

Trump didn’t beg for our soldier to be returned. He didn’t have his wife make hashtags. And he didn’t send pallets of cash in hopes of a deal. He just sent in special forces to ice every warm body that got in the way of the rescue.

My fellow Americans, over the past several hours, the United States Military pulled off one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History, for one of our incredible Crew Office Members, who also happens to be a highly respected Colonel, and who I am thrilled to let you know is SAFE and SOUND!” - President Donald J.
