@Y192814512 @historyinmemes Citizens whose grandfathers had voted before were exempted from these tests and poll taxes, which is the origin of the phrase "grandfathered in". This means that these tests were primarily given to black citizens, as none of their grandparents had ever voted for obvious reasons.

Simplest shit ever. The only way this can be considered hard is if malice was involved. Notice the test is administered to anyone not able to prove a fifth grade education. It's not race based. You a dumb fuck crawfishing redneck? You ain't voting either. As you shouldn't if you fail this >100 IQ gatekeeping test.

Literacy test given to African Americans as a prerequisite to being allowed to vote during the height of Jim Crow Segregation. The test was designed to be impossible to pass. (1960s)

@grassydino @33elkMTG For clarity, an "intervening if" has the word "if" between the trigger and the effect, and has special rules handling. Any such triggered ability checks the if clause when it goes to trigger and also when it goes to resolve. If Apprentice was worded this way, you'd be right.

@grassydino @33elkMTG It is weird though because I think this usually would be templated as an intervening if. Interesting that they chose not to.

@SkarlonYGO @Krojak_YGO That would describe my playgroup. A lot of times people demonstrate that they have the win and we all go "cool" and keep playing because it's only been like 15 minutes. Or choosing who to attack so it's not lethal.

@LearnerKip @ReichlinMelnick Under the Ker-Frisbie doctrine, a defendant being kidnapped or otherwise unlawfully apprehended does not affect jurisdiction of the Court. As long as they make it to court, there's no issue in trying them. SCOTUS opinion quoted in image.

@ReichlinMelnick lol it's not like he was extradited. The manner in which they arrive affects the legal status no? To claim jurisdiction after kidnapping a HoS is beyond absurd.

What? No, not at all. Being subject to US jurisdiction doesn’t make you a citizen. No one is saying that. The question is whether the child of a person, who is on US soil and fully subject to US jurisdiction, is a citizen at birth.
Megan Basham@megbasham

@ReichlinMelnick @DavidAFrench That’s idiotic. That suggests that anybody who commits a crime on American soil and is arrested by American authorities is therefore a citizen because they’re subject to our jurisdiction? What?

@cockpenis12 @Luver_26 The spell says each card's OWNER may cast it. You are the owner of the card from your library, and presumably the opponent is the owner of their permanent (though not if they had stolen it from you). Though you can also target your own perm., in which case you can cast both.

@Bananaconda777 @SadPoor Oh for some reason I forgot that you get N_Opponents-1 myriad tokens because the original needs to swing somewhere. You're right. I was calculating with 3 myriad tokens entering.

@GrayArchon @SadPoor 42 damage. Champion triggers on other elementals etb. The two myriad tokens entering would each get 3 Champion triggers.

@blitz9942 @Dork4Short There are a bunch of cards that shuffle themselves into your library upon resolution, like Beacon of Unrest or White Sun's Zenith.

@blitz9942 @Dork4Short Spells with buyback go back to your hand if you pay the buyback cost (which is additional, so it works with this card). Spells with rebound go into exile to be cast again, as do the spells which suspend themselves like Cyclical Evolution.

Today is Trans Day of Visibility. Trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people have always been here — from the hijra of India to the Diné nádleehi to the leaders who built the modern LGBTQIA+ movement here in New York. Your existence is not up for debate. Your lives are not a political issue. We’re fighting for a city where every trans New Yorker can live openly, safely, and with joy.

@NietzcheanPlus @Straturday1919 @HashtagGriswold It's not illegal to live in a house with illegal immigrants, and in this specific topic (households receiving welfare) we're talking about minor children citizens with illegal parents – obviously no one is charging the children with a crime.

@TheTrinketMage Maybe in like, mono-red goblins? Red doesn't have great card draw and goblins are usually 1/1, right? And after you play all your goblins you'll need to refill your hand somehow.

@UsagiKaede1 So fun thing, damage prevention and damage reduction are two separate things in MTG. So things like Skullcrack would not get around this.

@Dreamd0nt @Etnrd68 @Scott_Wiener This analogy makes no sense. There are tons of restaurants out there that don't serve hamburgers, pizza, or tacos. No industry has to cater exclusively to the majority or dominant taste.

@Etnrd68 @Scott_Wiener Correct. Think of the entertainment industry like the food industry. Most people want to order hamburgers, pizzas or tacos not avocado on toast. So you need to make sure you cater the most to people who want hamburgers/pizza or your restaurant will go out of business.

Depicting LGBTQ people in films isn’t “therapy.” It’s depicting the actual real world, where LGBTQ people exist & have always existed. Classifying it as “therapy” is similar to saying that laws banning discrimination against LGBTQ people somehow provide us with “special rights.” It’s part of the broader movement to erase LGBTQ people from many aspects of life. We’re part of the real world. We’re not going anywhere.
