Once upon a time I thought I was going places. The photo shows one RAF and one Royal Navy aviator. The rest of us were policemen. Not a Walt but if I were ...

I think every time you criticise the police your name should go in a raffle and next time something awful happens you should have to go deal with it. ‘Go on Janine, 44, from Scunthorpe. You said you could do better. Well he’s got an axe. Good luck.’

@TonyPjames @omid9 Strange how the BBC was unable to report on the regime's repression a few months ago but now has so much content about the war's effects on ordinary Iranians despite the blackout. Anyone might think they are biased.

@omid9 The only thing matching this is the lack of coverage its getting across all our news outlets. What's worse is while ignoring it they're giving platforms to regime representatives who are behind the blackout.

📵 #Iran's internet blackout is now entering its 47th day after 1104 hours without international connectivity for the general public. The measure continues to severely limit Iranians' ability to check on the safety of friends and loved ones across borders.

@ClarksonsFarm1 The support helicopter fleet had 3 rules/advice.. 1. Never pass fuel 2. Never pass food 3. Never pass porcelain (proper toilet) Good rules to live by…there was a fourth but it’s too crude for on here 😆😜

@BBCNews Funny how your reporting is dominated by the effect of the war on ordinary Iranians when the BBC failed so obviously to report the crackdown on the protests only weeks ago.

I have had a lightbulb moment. The two RAF bases on Cyprus are British Sovereign Territory. The government's inability and unwillingness to defend them must be a precursor to handing them back to Cyprus as they are clearly remnants of colonialism. Alternatively, transfer Akrotiri to the Navy, rename it HMS Akrotiri and hey presto we have a naval presence in the Med.

I have modified advice I gave my lad when he was a toddler - "if anyone attacks you or your friends, strike back with great force. Your friend will draw strength from you & your foe will wilt". My grandson will be told: "Do nothing until your foe's punch is on its way. Then duck"

Older readers will remember at the time of Gulf War 1 an unkind term being coined for the French, whose aircraft carrier, Clemenceau, was modified from combat to troop/helicopter transport purposes: "Cheese-eating surrender monkeys". I wonder if a term will now be coined for us.

@RAF_Luton It is rare we will correct the mighty @RAF_Luton but, on this occasion, we feel we must. As the photo is clearly taken from below it must have been a from a Buccaneer.

I cannot hear of Haydn without thinking of the conversation in an old Goon Show. GRYTPYPE-THYNNE: It's Moriarty, where are you? MORIARTY: Here. In the piano GRYTPYPE-THYNNE: What the devil are you doing in there MORIARTY: I'm hidin' GRYTPYPE-THYNNE: Don't be silly, Haydn's been dead for years.

After hearing yet another Haydn symphony for the first time last night @BirmCons (No.1 - even this is wonderful!), today I am reflecting once again that if more people spent more time listening to Haydn, the world would have far fewer problems.
