@TonyPjames @omid9 Strange how the BBC was unable to report on the regime's repression a few months ago but now has so much content about the war's effects on ordinary Iranians despite the blackout. Anyone might think they are biased.

@omid9 The only thing matching this is the lack of coverage its getting across all our news outlets. What's worse is while ignoring it they're giving platforms to regime representatives who are behind the blackout.

I have had a lightbulb moment. The two RAF bases on Cyprus are British Sovereign Territory. The government's inability and unwillingness to defend them must be a precursor to handing them back to Cyprus as they are clearly remnants of colonialism. Alternatively, transfer Akrotiri to the Navy, rename it HMS Akrotiri and hey presto we have a naval presence in the Med.

Older readers will remember at the time of Gulf War 1 an unkind term being coined for the French, whose aircraft carrier, Clemenceau, was modified from combat to troop/helicopter transport purposes: "Cheese-eating surrender monkeys". I wonder if a term will now be coined for us.
