This is clearly a measure to control the free speech of the powerless. Equivalent to lifting vote secrecy!

Anonymity is a core principle of the open web.
This is a terrible decision by the Greek government, one tha paves the road toward authoritarianism.
“Toxicity” is not an excuse for total governmental control of free speech. I hope this preposterous idea is retracted.

@talaipwros1970 Of course not. This only impacts Greece. The human trolls, state-led bots and nefarious AI agents will continue to operate from countries all over the world. And even if that limit becomes universal, they would find a way to game the system, as they always do.

The digital public sphere is too precious to be left either to the big tech “robber barons” or the political elites of the day.

With the proposal to ban anonymity on the digital public sphere, the Greek government is going many steps too far.
Legacy media in GR are concentrated among a handful of oligarchs, each tied to their own political friends.
