@GreenCanaryPod What on earth is a country with a population of fewer than 3M people (Qatar) going to do with 8 enormous arenas.... Building huge things that become redundant after a few weeks is eco-vandalism on a grand scale. It's like a single-use coffee cup the size of a small suburb.

@Billy03230830 @antsharwood Great question. Have been wondering the same, Billy. Let’s put this to @TimBarlow3 who’s an ecologist in the area but is perhaps not up with the latest. Can’t hurt to ask tho
English

Ant, or Elphy , or other knowledgeable peeps, what is happening to the brumbies of the Barmah Forest? I imagine drowning slowly is not as humane as instant death via a bullet would have been? @GreenCanaryPod @antsharwood

@al_superfooty @antsharwood Bloody hell. Have read about half. More later. Jeebers

Govt has just committed to signing the global methane pledge. Will it ruin the Aussie BBQ? If you caught the beef farmer in our pod last week, you'd know that's a load of bull!
$5m will go towards research & development for low-emissions feed supplements abc.net.au/news/2022-10-2…
English

"No more Aussie barbies," the Nats & others shrieked as the Albo govt looked to sign the Global Methane Pledge.
Well, we interviewed a beef farmer via @farmingforever to set the record straight on this week's pod.
Learned lots and you will too. Tune in! open.spotify.com/episode/50QFpC…

@GreenCanaryPod Raising the wall of Warragamba Dam would be the property developers' preference because they won't have to pay for it.
But can they convince potential buyers, and the insurance industry, that raising the wall will guarantee a flood-free future for homes built on flood plains?
English

2022 has been a truly exceptional year of rainfall in #Sydney. It only took 279 days to break the city’s annual rainfall record of 2194mm from 1950, with annual data available back to 1859.

@Cam_Walker @GreenCanaryPod Ecological & carbon footprint on this thing is going to be horrendous, vulnerable to extreme drought just as ultra cheap batteries r on the horizon
English

This is absolutely unacceptable. There is an alternative to this massive destruction. The NSW gov needs to commit to the Talbingo reservoir substation option.
