@Sudharsan_ak She (and this org) just continue to double-down on their double-downs on dissing the CC fan base.

@sharkiowa There are always subsets in every large group. Just like there is a faction of people whose sole interest in the WNBA is being a Caitlin Clark denier.

While Caitlin's passionate fans have boosted the WNBA’s visibility, a vocal subset often hurts her more than they help by frequently flooding social media with attacks and conspiracy theories. True support would mean celebrating her success without the constant complaining.

We do not want NBA players and NFL players and college players to play in the old Confederate states. They make billions of dollars from black sports players.. they do not want any black political power representation. enough is enough.

@BritniDWrites LMAO. I'm a Midwest/B10 guy, but c'mon... you don't think they make bank in SEC schools. Not to mention, if they weren't, they wouldn't be there.... period.

I agree. Black athletes aren't disposable. They also aren't the property of the SEC. In the age of NIL, there are other — more profitible & safer — alternitives for Black althletes. Why should they be in states/programs that don't care abt them outside of their athletic prowess??
𝓝𝓲𝓴𝓴𝓲 𝓑𝓪𝓻𝓷𝓮𝓼@NikkiBarnes

I support fighting for civil rights and institutional accountability. What I do not support is asking young Black men to sacrifice life changing educational and athletic opportunities to make political statements while powerful institutions, donors, and executives risk nothing themselves. Black athletes are not disposable political tools.

Empty seats at @IndianaFever games? Simple.. At some point the drama get exhausting At some point “the star” must produce championships At some point “the star” pimping every product on every commercial fuels resentment At some point people get tired of bad hoops We may be at that point

@raya4 It's simple, you work with what you have. And guaranteed, you would see a leaguewide dropoff if Caitlin isn't driving the conversation.

I don't get the "gotcha" of falling Indy attend numbers because the only thing it's showing is that the fans there are fans of a player, and not a team. Which fair, but it's not an indictment of the league itself or overall popularity when attendance numbers are great elsewhere.

@TraeK_ Doesn't mean they got it right with those hires. Caitlin didn't miss games year one, so didn't get to see how that crew would have operated regarding policy/ethical obligations.

@_veryhateful LMAO. You think you are a savant? We'll gladly tell you we are fans of one player. Driving away the largest group of fans is also not a healthy way to grow the game.

idc about ticket sales but i called this in year 1, that a lot of her fans didn’t care about women’s basketball and were just a fan of one player. it’s not a healthy way to grow the game.

Fever should be as transparent as possible due to Caitlin Clark’s star power and in fairness to fans. But it’s also worth pointing out Clark is a part of this process. She’s talked about overcoming mental hurdles of injuries so not surprising if she’s being extra cautious.

CC derangement syndrome is confounding to me Why are all these grown ass adults being so intellectually dishonest about one person who hits a few threes and throws a nice pass sometimes?
coach anderson@coachandere6xa

Rachel Demita who covers the NBA and in NBA circles, “ I don’t know if Caitlin staying with the Indiana fever makes sense” “I think If this were an NBA franchise, an NBA organization, people would be fired by now” “ People would be fired expeditiously” !!! 🥊

2 years ago the WNBA had its first bona fide box office star in Caitlin Clark. Her team, the Indiana Fever, had to move its games into massive venues, and charge hundreds of dollars for tickets in response to demand to see her play. Even today, out of jersey sales for ALL basketball players, hers are second only to NBA star Steph Curry...meaning she sells even more jerseys than guys like Lebron James. But with the hype came extra scrutiny on a league that was clearly unprepared for the big time, and more interested in identity politics than in growth. Before, the story was about a generational talent. Now it's becoming about a generational fumble. I've never seen anything like it.
