@BlindTasters Is it still closed with VinoLok under foil? I love this producer, but he’s broken more @Coravin needles than anyone…

Such a fun (and delicious) wine, a 12-year-old blend of Zweigelt and Blaufrankisch, reminiscent of a Loire in its length and finesse but more lush and peppery—and just 12.5% alcohol. Never disappointed by Heinrich. #austrianwine

@BlindTasters A sad day indeed. If there is a scale to lean upon, I put my thumb on Cambridge. We will work harder next year…

@iterorg How many degrees of freedom does this support? It looks like a 4-bar linkage. I’m sure the loads/strains this will take are complex.

Vacuum Vessel Gravity Support #1 was lowered into the tokamak pit this week and successfully set into position. These supports are designed to bear the weight of the VV while accommodating radial, toroidal, and vertical movement caused by thermal expansion of the plasma chamber.

@jwalkermobile I try to have a meal there every time I’m in London. Always an exciting wine.
English

Apart from a quick day trip to Copenhagen, ending a week in London, and as I often do, back at Noble Rot for my last meal of the visit. Started off with a nice young sherry. Love their Coravin list, so in order went with:
Roulot, Meursault 1 er Cru 'Clos des Boucheres'; Burgundy, France 2020
Arnoux Lachaux, Vosne-Romanee 1er Cru 'Les Chaumes'; Burgundy, France 2021
Beaucastel, CNDP 'Hommage Jacques Perrin'; S Rhone, France 2000
After the American centric dinner last night was fun to try some of these foreign wines I hear people talk about. Went a bit carb heavy, Black Pepper Gnocchi and their Lasagna Bianca. Gnocchi and the Meursault was a spot of pairing. Lasagna was super indulgent, and worked decently with the Arnoux Lachaux. Ended with the Beaucastel which was amazing, WOTN by some margin. Great last flavor.
Of all the brilliant restaurants in London, this is the one that really doesn’t have an equal or peer back in NYC.

@IWFSAmericas Thank you for this, but the best way to assess wine changes over time is to blind taste against a freshly opened sample at each time point using at least a triangle test. Happy to help with future test set ups.

@DrPhiltill Beautiful article. Identifying unexpected reality is always worth surprise and praise.

Is it ok if I brag on my daughter for a few moments? 😇 She’s at MIT working on a PhD in physics (soft condensed matter and stat mech) and recently submitted this paper:

Among the many reasons to be proud, I see that she has used the word “ubiquitous” in the intro 🏆🙌, something her dad has also done in a physics paper.

@DrBruggeman Well done! No better advocate for sanity than you. Not an easy place to sell sanity, making this step even greater.

Good morning from DC. As I walk through the halls an hour after the House passed the budget reconciliation bill, I am thankful that for the first time ever, physicians will have a payment that is tied to inflation. Decades of advocacy is seeing a result. I am thankful for all the physician champions who came before me in a seemingly endless parade of white coats fighting for fair reimbursement.
Are we there yet? No. Have we arrived at a truly fair compensation? No. There is still work to do. But for one day I am going to celebrate a win that took thousands and thousands of people to happen.

Had an opportunity to talk about the joy of helping patients get better today on Fox and NBC. One of my patients, Marc, a lifelong pilot, joined me to talk about his disc herniation, surgery, recovery, and how his life has changed. Thankful for innovations like Barricaid!
