Might have to look into going the tradesman route, unless I get any assurances on my current role tomorrow Start preparing for potential redundancy, can’t see with just GCSE’s anyone in the broking market taking on if my role goes, found other former colleagues struggle for jobs

Mulling over a back up plan in case the job in the insurance broking world goes sideways. Have nowt more than GCSE’s (sector usually wants Uni Grads) and don’t mind hard graft. Done a few manual jobs for family and found I’m not too bad with tools, Irish blood so hard working!

Have many folks in Gtr Mcr area had a career pivot from a desk job to a tradesman in the 40’s age bracket. If so, what is the best route to start, find a local builder / sparky / plasterer looking for labour (learn on the job), or via an apprenticeship with a bigger firm.

Happy St Patrick’s to all of those with Irish roots, we have ours mainly through my Great Grandparents, Tommy and Bridget who moved to Salford. This was two months before my Nana was born, always felt firmly connected to my Celt roots through her lineage.

I agree with this entirely, had the honour to meet @Cmdr_Hadfield when he came to Manchester a few years ago, he was a class act. Aim to be a Zero made me think lots about how you carry yourself. Chris reminded me of my Grandad Eric in his manner, he was a great human as well.
