Our sonde got sucked into the updraft of the Elk City, OK storm yesterday! Not shown on the graph due to data smoothing, the max ascent speed of 41mph! Typical ascent is 9-12mph, or around 4-6 m/s. Looks like it also behaved as a hail stone on descent…. Notice the tendency for the descent rate to slow/move closer to zero? It was in the middle of the updraft at this point. I believe the upward force was attempting to slow the ascent. The sonde only weighs 100 grams. Basically it was getting sucked up. @RadarOmega @stsweathereye
