@JustinRYoung Given the alleged amount of lobbying by Meta to get the law passed in the first place who the #%$& knows. That said I would think that starting the term fighting with the president would be too much of a deterrent.

All of this is at the discretion of the executive and bound by the desire of opposition to spend on challenging it legally. So: 🤷🏻‍♂️

@JustinRYoung The president can only enact the 1 time 90 day extension if they certify to congress there is a deal in the works and the deal has legally binding documents that the deal will close within the 90 days. Never know what Trump is going to do but this seems like a high hurdle

Biden admin doesn’t want to do shit. Is saying they “won’t enforce” the ban the last day they’re in office. But that’s not a real reason for TikTok, Apple, Google and Oracle to not comply. Trump doesn’t get in until Monday when he might enact the 90 day extension even without an imminent sale. So… Sunday, Bloody Sunday for the Tokkers.

If the administration is telling Oracle they won't enforce the law than the potential penalties seem very unlikely BUT the risk extends beyond the admin's time of control. If I were @larryellison I wouldn't risk $850 billion but who knows how strong the political pressure is.

My understanding of the TikTok ban is that Apple, Google, and most importantly Oracle (who hosts the application and the data) face potential future penalties if they do not shut down TikTok January 19th unless a deal is already in place to sell TikTok.
