Blood sacrifice? Required the Temple and altar. GONE. Tribal membership? The records were in the Temple. GONE. The priesthood? No altar, no sanctuary, no sacrifice, no priesthood. GONE. Then Jesus replaced the Levitical Priesthood with His own, after the order of Melchizedek (Hebrews 7:17). Then Jesus replaced the Passover with Communion, with Him as the Lamb of God (1 Corinthians 5:7). Then Jesus replaced the Temple with His own body (both is his own flesh, and in his church) (John 2:21). Then Jesus replaced the sacrifices with His own, his blood shed for the forgiveness of sins (Hebrews 10:12). Then Jesus replaced circumcision with baptism of believers, not when born, but when born again (Colossians 2:12). Then Jesus replaced membership in a Hebrew tribe, with the genealogies soon to be destroyed, with membership in the church (1 Timothy 1:4). Then Jesus replaced the Children of Abraham in the flesh with the true heirs of the promise, the Spiritual Sons of Abraham (Galatians 3:29). Then Jesus replaced the Sabbath with His own day, the Lord’s Day, named after Him and observed on the day He rested from His work at the right hand of God (Revelation 1:10). Then Jesus made all meats clean, replacing the dietary code with pork belly lollipops smothered in a Jack Daniels glaze, hickory smoked maple bacon, and fried catfish (Mark 7:19). It’s a much superior Covenant in every way, praise God.
