@colinjfast I did a 4-5 week series on “What is the church” that taught people why we do what we do when we gather. And then continued our series in John

Pastor, when you were first installed at your church, what did you preach through? Why?

@jenniferwilkin Architecture also plays an important part of “setting the table” re: who is invited to join. I’d love for our churches to start asking questions like: “If we believe persons of all dis/abilities are a part of the Family of God, do our buildings facilitate that or not?”

As others have said, I don’t agree with all of it, but I’m glad to see it discussed. I grew up in churches whose architecture spoke of God at every turn. Bring back architecture/aesthetics that speak of a transcendent God and demand we call Him to mind: mereorthodoxy.com/12-theses-on-c…

@AJWTheology I love seeing the connection between architecture and the experience of the congregation. I’d also love to see something I coded here about the spaces where we worship have an intentionality for ensuring persons of all dis/abilities can co-labour in ‘the work of the people’

@jt_english I’m preaching this same text this Sunday. In John, Jesus washed feet and had his feet washed. So to love one another means a willingness to both serve and be served in a relationship of mutuality. Some of us don’t like to serve, others of us don’t want to be served!

Preaching John 13. Judas' betrayal, Peter's denial, and a new command. Some follow Jesus for the stuff (Judas). "He received and immediately left." Some follow Jesus for the fight (Peter). "I will lay down my life for you." Jesus' response: Love one another as I've loved you.

As you consider God's Word preached today, don’t settle for the mere exposition of God’s Word — seek an encounter with the Beloved.

Four “fig leaves” we use to cover our shame: - Possessions - what I have - Performance - what I do - Popularity - what others say about me - Persona - the version I want you to see - my costume

@Luke_Simon7 @CTmagazine I was really helped by this article, I've shared it with my colleagues as we try to lead in our church together. Thanks, Luke!

My newest piece @CTmagazine Gen Z is quietly reshaping church worship—young men gravitating toward tradition and liturgy, young women toward CCM—revealing a growing gender divide shaped by algorithms, values, and spiritual expression. christianitytoday.com/2025/05/gen-z-…

I’ve started following the @BlueJays this summer. Not due to their performance this year, but because our family are direct recipients of the good work of @JaysCare. Raising a kid with disabilities is $$, so free community baseball for him this year was a gift! Go Jays!

In my role as a pastor, I’m not trying to get everyone to agree on everything so much as I’m attempting to create environments where our disagreements don’t automatically become cause for disunity.

Here is a version I created. I use a quarterly rythm vocationally so I overlayed that. It is interesting to consider Calvin’s quarterly rythm of observing the Lord’s Supper but I personally prefer it weekly 11/
