sure, once you have cut government by more than 50%, reduce the amount of taxpayers money going to treaty grifts, climate grifts, rainbow grifts, and every other boondoggle, reduce massive the welfare bill. sure, then raise it, because then taxes will be so low we wont need it. but if i have to fund most of this crap, then i should get super at 65.

why should a high income earner who paid multiple times teh tax of the low income earner throughout their life (like many hundreds of thousands more), get penalised at retirement for this? and what negative incentives will asset/income testing generate and is it worth the hassle for little gain?

Assuming its purely a capitalistic enterprise i agree with you (though allowing the fact that anything in reverse would not be allowed), but its likely funded by council, govt in some form, so its not really a free enterprise. if its getting tax payer or rate payer money then it should not be allowed to discriminate because its not a private enterprise anymore.

The cool thing about starting your own business is that you get to choose pretty much everything (except tax stuff - that is compulsory). The te-reo-only cafe in Rotorua is a great example of this. Good on them.
