A new survey out today shows Kiwi businesses are the most confident they've been since 2014. Here are a few things we've done to get our businesses back to investing, growing and creating jobs. 1. Reined in wasteful spending, driving down inflation and interest rates 2. Unlocked new export markets with the UAE and GCC, and concluded a Free Trade Agreement with India 3. Launched Investment Boost so businesses can invest and grow 4. Backed farmers, growers and exporters to take on the world - lifting exports by $12 billion in two years 5. Introduced Fast-track to make it faster and easier to build big projects 6. Building 17 Roads of National Significance so freight, tradies and businesses can get around the country more efficiently. National is fixing the basics and building the future.

On Tuesday, the Israeli military invaded Birzeit University, attacking students with live ammunition. Israel's scholasticide is a core part of its attempt to obliterate the collective life of the Palestinian people. @DrJoGrady has written to @YvetteCooperMP urging the British government to take action 👇 @PSCupdates @fpu_org @BirzeitU

Venezuela 🇻🇪: @ituc and @CSA_TUCA strongly condemn the US military aggression against Venezuela and the violation of its sovereignty. We call for respect for the Venezuelan people’s right to self-determination, the immediate release of all those detained, and a return to peaceful and democratic dialogue. Peace and international law must prevail. ituc-csi.org/ituc-tuca-vene…

1/2 At the start of 2025 we ran our annual Mood of the Workforce survey. Since then it's been a tough year for working people and their whānau - before we head into 2026, take a look at how workers were feeling at the start of this year:

#BHN 80% of the Platform and ZB's political content, that doesn't come from a political party, comes from right wing lobby groups...but 'yeah' public money is a problem #nzpol #nzpolitics @Ceriphinz

This National-led Govt has proven that they are unable to lift the economic prosperity of working people. They are looking at further cuts at the next Budget, while we have record numbers on benefits. All this Govt are delivering is higher costs and more job losses.

Economic growth is welcome if it translates into greater wellbeing. But the main growth is in unemployment claims, and the numbers of New Zealanders leaving the country.

New GDP data from Stats NZ shows that the economy is flatlining – and is still smaller than it was at the election. For all their talk of green shoots, the Govt continues to fail workers. Unemployment is up, and cost of living is rising for middle and low-income New Zealanders.

New Zealand stands with our firefighters ✊ They're facing a Dire Emergency: broken down trucks, dangerous staffing, faulty equipment. Firefighters want to keep New Zealanders safe—but they need FENZ to show up and genuinely prioritise community safety. @NZPFU

You mean kiwis struggling to pay rent and food will have to give over more of their income @chrisluxonmp not sound decisions from you during a cost of living crisis. In Australia the 12% comes from employers, not employees.
Christopher Luxon@chrisluxonmp

#BREAKING: National will lift KiwiSaver contributions to 12% total, giving working Kiwis stronger retirement savings and young people more for their first home. When you work hard, save, and plan for your future, National will help you get ahead.

With 400,000 people wanting more work and not being able to get it - small shifts in job ads won't cut it. There are 36,309 more people on Jobseeker over the past two years (217,818 in Sep 2025), and the only plan is to take it away from 18/19 year olds.

On Morning Report today Ingrid said "Should we say green shoots?" in response to a tiny lift in MBIE job ads. Anything that shows a better labour market should be welcomed - but is that really what's going on? The honest answer is not really - job ads are down 30% in 2 years. A🧵

This government promised to get the economy back on track, & tackle the cost of living. On both measures its failing. Working New Zealanders & their families are hurting – and the promised recovery keeps being pushed back. New Zealand needs a plan – not promises of green shoots

Unemployment reached a 9 year of 5.3%. The labour market took another turn for the worse - unemployment growing, underemployment growing, fewer hours being worked, and wages are not keeping up with inflation. This data is another sign the economy is not working. A thread
