I'm not saying your personal perspective or how you would react is wrong; I'm rebutting the implication for others.

You're so smart, That's Impressive." implies that you didn't think they were capable of their job / fixing it to begin with, which in itself is rude. It's the wording not the compliment.

@ReiLokoFn @YoMoonskii @_binshi_ Context would matter, if it was your friend. "Oh yeah I work in IT so I know a lot about computers!" If it's your coworker and they know you're the IT guy. "Dude it's my job." Fits. Most of these situations vary greatly depending on context, people will never agree because of it.

@AdamSinger The thing people need to keep in mind is that this is a two way street. If I saw my mom/dad struggling I'd help them, so them not helping me "because I need to reach my potential." Is fucked. Not to mention generational housing was the norm before the west was settled.

Have a friend like this. Parents worth closer to 20M. They live alone in giant house in fla, angry at the world most of the time. Kids are responsible & work hard, not rich. Truly strange phenomenon. Don't have a father so hard to relate, but seems weird to not level up your kids
