@CentraloregonNG journalists are fighting for fair wages and a fair contract with Carpenter Media Group.

UPDATE: The Everett NewsGuild is calling on Herald subscribers to support their contract fight as Carpenter Media Group continues to offer low wages and tie meager raises to story quotas. (1/5) actionnetwork.org/petitions/supp…

Tomorrow morning we will be going on a 24-hour strike. We'd rather be working on stories about the community we love, but our hand has been forced. Please read the press release below, then come say hi to us as we march up Colby!

INCREDIBLE NEWS: We have made an agreement with the leadership of @MarshallProj and we are officially a union! We are so excited to begin working toward our first contract.

We now have a salary floor of $65K, guaranteed annual raises of at least 3.5% for our lowest-paid employees, and got our 401(k) match and other currently-offered benefits codified. Not to mention 6 MONTHS of parental leave paid at 100%.

We look forward to a growing and sustainable High Country News, united by the support and strength that voluntary recognition, a strong first contract, and a thriving union will bring. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻

The Grist Union is THRILLED to announce that we have tentatively agreed to our first contract!! ✊💚🍾 It's been a long year-plus of bargaining, but we are beyond proud of the progress we've made for a better Grist. A 🧵
