Teens began punching each other and then ROBBED A CVS before they began jumping on cars to escape. Over 10 people were arrested and 100+ cop cars from TWO DEPARTMENTS showed up. This was a CHURCH fundraiser THAT WAS PLANNED ALL YEAR LONG FOR THE COMMUNITY!!!!!!! A family event with carnival rides to support St. Catharine Parish and its SCHOOL. And now? This umpire called a ball that the defensive team thought was a strike. The coach called a timeout after the walk and gathered his infield on the mound. On the next pitch, the catcher slid to the right out of the way of the ball making no attempt to catch it and let it drill the umpire right in the mask. Umpires are fallible human beings. Bad call? Maybe it was. But intentionally letting the ball hit him is poor sportsmanship, dangerous and has no place in the game. The coach, pitcher and catcher should all be ejected from the game. Heck, I might just call the game if I was the umpire and if that is what you are teaching your players, maybe that coach should never be allowed to coach again. What would you do if you were the umpire? How about if it was your child pitching or catching? And what are you saying to the coach if he was the coach of your team?
