World Athletics announced a major restructuring of marathon competition on the global stage, with a dedicated World Marathon Championships set to debut in 2030. The inaugural edition may be hosted in Athens.
🥇 The marathon will stay in the World Athletics Championships in 2027 and 2029 and then move to its own event from 2030.
By 2031, no road running distances will appear at the World Championships.
🏃🏃♀️The new championship will be annual, with men and women competing in alternate years.
🇬🇷 Athens, the birthplace of the modern marathon, is in formal exploratory talks to host the inaugural edition in 2030. As a result, World Athletics has awarded the Athens Marathon Elite Label status and outlined a multi-year investment plan to modernize the historic Marathon-to-Athens course. Athens is targeting Platinum Label status, which is the World Athletics' highest road racing designation, by 2029.
🗣️ World Athletics president Seb Coe: “Few events in sport carry the weight and resonance of the marathon; it is both a test of the very highest performance and a celebration of mass participation. This is an opportunity to create a dedicated global celebration of marathon running, held in a setting that honours its heritage while shaping a modern championship that reflects the scale and spirit of the global running community."

Red Alert🚨‼️ City of Cape Town
Motorist to practice extra caution and vigilance when travelling along this stretch on Jakes Gerwel, passing Langa.
Again while travelling home a smash and grab incident occurred. The same happened 4 days ago while travelling on this strip. Despite the static deployment of Metro police and SAPS these incidents continue to escalate.
A call to the various law enforcement agencies is needed this morning, this cannot be!
Motorists, share with me your solution focused ideas. This needs all of us.

🇿🇦R21 BILLION ON SALARIES, WHILE SERVICE DELIVERY KEEPS COLLAPSING‼️
Johannesburg is spending R21 billion on salaries while service delivery continues to decline, raising serious questions about priorities in the city’s governance structure.
The city operates through 13 entities, each with its own CEO, board, and executive layer, alongside 21 municipal departments, a structure that is costly, complex, and increasingly difficult to justify in terms of results.
Ten of these entities reportedly pay their heads above the national senior management salary cap, with executive pay rising faster than inflation, while residents face ongoing failures in roads, water, electricity, housing, and waste management.
On paper, each entity has a clear mandate. In reality, many of those mandates remain visibly unmet, even as leadership structures expand and salaries grow.
This is where the concern deepens: service delivery weakens, but administrative layers and costs keep increasing.
And yet those in charge continue to occupy their positions, draw significant salaries, and operate within systems that struggle to deliver basic results.
Because in the end, no amount of structure or spending can hide a simple reality: Johannesburg is not delivering.

✈️ Dear @Fly_Airlink THIS IS DAYLIGHT ROBBERY😕😡 🚨
I’m writing this to publicly expose what I experienced with your airline, because this cannot be normal or acceptable.
I booked my flight 2 months in advance, everything paid, everything confirmed. I arrive at the airport thinking it’s a smooth check-in… only to be told there’s an "issue" with my name on your system apparently it only showed my initials and surname instead of my full names.
Now here’s the shocking part…
Instead of simply verifying my identity (which I had FULL proof of ID AND passport in hand), your staff decided the solution was to charge me R790 just to "edit" my name on your own system error.
Let that sink in…
👉 YOUR system error
👉 MY money
And I say that because I booked with my full names and your staff said maybe it's because my names are long..
I even escalated the matter to the supervisor on duty, expecting some level of professionalism or assistance… but instead, she showed zero willingness to help and proceeded to enforce this ridiculous charge like it’s normal practice.
How do you justify charging a customer R790 for something that and paying huge sums of rands to book my flights, something that
• Was NOT my fault
• Could be verified instantly with official documents
• Took literally seconds to fix
This is not customer service, this is exploitation, in fact u stealing from us.
We are already paying high ticket prices, and now we must budget extra for your internal mistakes too? 😭
I am formally demanding a full refund of R790 back into my account within 24 hours.
You cannot continue taking people’s hard-earned money under the guise of "policies" when the fault lies entirely with your own system.
If this is not resolved urgently, I will have no choice but to escalate this matter further through the relevant consumer protection channels and publicly pursue accountability.
Do the right thing. Also check your Emails because this same tweet is on your emails

I was in the Western Cape along the garden route in a small town not far from Knysna admiring beautiful South Africa and minding my own business, to then remember I forgot my training/gym shoes.
They only had Mr Price sports so I bought Maxed Nova Sneakers for R350. This might be a bit of an exaggeration but these are by far the most comfortable gym shoes for me. Now thinking of how many expensive gym shoes I have and none of them come close to this is disheartening for me.

A 71 year old man dies in March.
Will. Trust. Beneficiaries on every account. He did everything right.
BUT he kept his entire life on his IPHONE.
Banking apps. Brokerage accounts. Crypto wallets. PayPal. Venmo. Credit cards. Passwords. Financial records going back many years.
And every photo he ever took. His grandkids. His anniversaries. Years of family memories that exist nowhere else.
His wife found a passcode scribbled on a piece of paper in his desk drawer.
It didn't work.
She tried everything. Nothing worked.
What followed was months of frustration and thousands in legal fees recovering accounts and memories that were never hidden from her.
A perfect estate plan on paper.
Zero estate plan for his phone.
Nobody ever told him his smartphone needed one too.
Here's the free two minute fix that could have saved her all of that. 🧵
