A new milestone for humankind: The crew of Artemis II are now the farthest any human has ever travelled, reaching a maximum distance of 252,752 miles from Earth. This surpasses the previous record set by Apollo 13 in 1970 by about 4,102 miles.

Congratulations to the entire Artemis II team and @NASA on the successful launch! To many this marks the first time, we will see US Astronauts take flight towards the Moon. Under @NASAAdmin though, it won't be the last!

Liftoff. The Artemis II mission launched from @NASAKennedy at 6:35pm ET (2235 UTC), propelling four astronauts on a journey around the Moon. Artemis II will pave the way for future Moon landings, as well as the next giant leap — astronauts on Mars.

A special sendoff for the @NASAArtemis II crew! 🚀 This morning, Johnson Space Center employees lined the streets outside Ellington Field to cheer on the crew and their backups as they arrived for their T-38 flights to @NASAKennedy. The Space Launch System rocket and Orion spacecraft await them on Launch Pad 39B, with liftoff targeted for no earlier than April 1.

This is by far the most thought out, and aggressive plan we've ever seen from #NASA. Start to finish plan is laid out perfect.
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman@NASAAdmin

Today at Ignition, we’re aligning the NASA workforce, industry, our international and commercial partners, and the broader space-loving community on how we will execute @POTUS’ national space policy ✅ Return to the Moon ✅ Build a Moon base ✅ Unleash the golden age of space exploration. ✅ First interplanetary nuclear powered spacecraft We will win the second space race.

CLPS will be a huge driver towards this initiative. With 456+ hours of surface duration, and 500kg capacity, our landers are up to the challenge!
NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman@NASAAdmin

To build a sustained human presence on the Moon, we are building @NASAMoonBase, prioritizing surface operations and scalable infrastructure.  - Frequent robotic landings and mobility testing including MoonFall drones  - Starting in 2027 nearly monthly cadence of equipment and rovers with scientific payloads landing on the Moon.  - Investments in power, communications, and surface mobility  - Scalable infrastructure to support long-term human presence The objective is clear: build the foundation for an enduring lunar base and take the next step toward Mars.

I’ve been waiting literally decades for NASA to articulate a plan for a Moon base. Now Carlos Garcia-Galan is doing a masterful job of precisely this. Dozens of landings. Drones. RTGs. Rovers. Habitats. Excavators. This is incredible stuff.

Standardize under 2 designs (get rid of failed designs), perform mass orders instead of individual awards. Reduce cost and increase efficiency across CLPS.

All the years of SXSW, and Spring Break ive never seen this. If there is not TSA shortage, then something else is the issue. This isn't and hasn't ever been the norm. kxan.com/news/local/aus…
