A young Sikh woman was raped in Oldbury by two men who told her: “You don’t belong in this country, get out.” This horrific act shows how racism and misogyny feed each other. When communities are dehumanised, violence follows. We must defeat the far right in the streets and at the ballot box, and never let their poison be normalised.

I am disgusted and saddened to learn that two men have sexually assaulted a young Sikh woman in Oldbury. Early reports are saying that the men told the woman to 'go back to your country'. This is a vile, racist, misogynist attack that should be treated with the utmost seriousness. My thoughts are with the woman and her family, and I understand she is receiving support.🙏
